Business of the Month September / October 2013

David Lint, Real Living Sugar Pine Realty

Specializing in Residential and Commercial Listing and Sales in Tuolumne County and

Mariposa County, from Pine Mountain Lake Luxury to Remote Rural Land

209.962.7765 [email protected]

I started in real estate in 1973, my first license was with Great Lakes Development Company,

working in Copper Cove, around Lake Tulloch near Copperopolis. I spent

time there on weekends, while working full time in the world of

electronics and the music industry where my sales included music

equipment for Motown, the Grand Old Oprey, and almost… the Kremlin

in Russia!

Around 1975, I transferred my license to Martinez Realty in Cupertino,

CA, where I worked in real estate in the Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, and San

Jose area part time. Then in 1985, I moved to Pine Mountain and started

Pine Cone Realty where Shirley Lint, my wife, was the Broker. We worked

from home until we changed to a new company, Coldwell Banker in 1989.

In addition to working in PML and the surrounding area, we also worked

in Lake Tulloch and managed real estate sales for a new start up

subdivision called Conner Estates.

In 1997 we joined Sugar Pine Realty with Emmett & Ann Brennen, and managed the Groveland and

Coulterville offices for them until a year before Shirley passed away in 2004.

Dave later married Donna Wines, of Wines Chiropractic, and Dave and Donna plan to stay in

Groveland forever, they we love it here! Dave Lint served as Vice President & President for the

Hetch Hetchy Association of REALTORS®, as Secretary for the Chamber of Commerce for 2 years,

and has run the “Golf for Schools” tournament at Pine Mountain Lake for 13 years, raising funds for

our local schools to the tune of about $41,000 to date. Dave personally donated $10,000 to the

Groveland Skate Park, as well as kitchen and recreation equipment for the Groveland Youth Center.

Thank you Dave for being part of our community.

NRCS Announces Assistance for Catastrophic Fire Recovery DAVIS, Calif., Oct. 18, 2013—The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) today announced that applications will be accepted to assist private landowners in California affected by wildfires in the last 18 months. Financial assistance for implementing conservation practices may be available through the Environmental

Quality Incentives Program (EQIP). Applications for this initiative can be submitted for primary consideration

and ranking through Nov. 15, 2013.

"I encourage landowners who have private forestlands and rangelands that were damaged by the recent catas-

trophic fires to visit with their local NRCS field office about how this initiative can provide assistance to pro-

tect their natural resources," said California State Conservationist Carlos Suarez.

The purpose of the Catastrophic Fire Recovery EQIP Initiative is to provide immediate resource pro-tection in areas burned by catastrophic fires in the past 18 months. Priority concerns include imme-diate soil erosion protection, minimizing noxious and invasive plant proliferation, protecting water quality, fish and wildlife habitat, and bringing back forests and restoring livestock infrastructure nec-essary for grazing management. Priority applications will include practices that are implemented within one year and provide immediate ero-

sion protection, adequate livestock water, and habitat protection.

Participants interested in implementing practices beyond the scope of this special and limited initiative are

encouraged to apply under the regular EQIP funding opportunities.

NRCS has provided leadership in a partnership effort to help America's private land owners and managers

conserve their soil, water and other natural resources since 1935.

RIM FIRE RANCHERS RELIEF BENEFIT For decades, the natural water sources and abundant vegetation of Stanislaus National Forest have served as ideal graz-

ing land for grass-fed cattle in the summer months.

About 4,000 cows were ranging there when the Rim Fire ignited August 17. After burning 257,314 acres the Rim Fire is now fully contained over two months after it was ignited. There were eleven homes, three commercial properties and 98 outbuilding destroyed in the flames. Miles of fencing destroyed and many of the Ranchers have over 100 head each con-firmed dead and even more believed to be dead, and the near future of grazing in the forest up in the air, the cattle indus-try is another victim of the massive blaze on the west edge of Yosemite. Ranchers continue to the search for what's left of

their herds - dead, wounded or unscathed.

Due to the devastation created by the Rim Fire to ranchers, Country Cowboy Church has organized a benefit for ranchers who have suffered loss of livestock, fences, cabins, outbuildings and grazing ground from the Rim Fire. The "Rim Fire Ranchers Relief" boasts a BBQ Tri-tip and chicken dinner, raffle, live auction and entertainment by the Sierra Mountain Band. The event will be held at 5 PM Saturday, November 23rd in the John Muir Building at the Tuolumne County Fair-

grounds.

Tickets for the event are $30.00 per person and can be purchased at Banks Glass, Bolton Feed, Hurst Ranch Feed & Fencing, Let’R Buck Western Wear, Pac-N-Copy (In the Junction), Sonora Feed & Supply, Tractor Supply Company, Tuo-

lumne County Visitors Bureau, Vacation Station or online at www.countrycowboychurch.com

Donations of raffle and live auction items are tax deductible. If you would like to donate an item for the raffle or live auc-tion please contact Country Cowboy Church at 209-588-1056.

SBA Offers Disaster Assistance to California Small

Businesses Economically Impacted by the Rim Fire

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The U. S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is offering low-interest working capital federal disaster loans to small businesses economically impacted by the Rim Fire that began on August 17, U. S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Acting Administrator Jeanne Hulit announced to-day. SBA acted under its own authority to declare a disaster in response to a request SBA received from Gov. Edmund G. Brown’s designated representative, Mark Ghilarducci, Director of the California Gover-nor’s Office of Emergency Services, on September 24, 2013.

The disaster declaration makes SBA disaster assistance available in Mariposa and Tuolumne Counties and the neighboring counties of Alpine, Calaveras, Madera, Merced, Mono and Stanislaus. “The U. S. Small Business Administration is strongly committed to providing the most effective and cus-tomer-focused response possible to assist California’s small businesses with federal disaster loans. We will be swift in our efforts to help these small businesses recover from the financial impacts of this disas-ter,” said Acting Administrator Hulit. “Small, nonfarm businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture and most private, nonprofit organizations of any size may qualify for Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs) of up to $2 million to help meet financial obligations and operating expenses which could have been met had the disaster not occurred,” Mendoza said. “These loans may be used to pay fixed debts, payroll, accounts payable and other bills that can’t be paid because of the disaster’s impact. Disaster loans can provide vital economic assistance to small busi-nesses to help overcome the temporary loss of revenue they are experiencing,” Mendoza added. Eligibility is based on the financial impact of the disaster only and not on any actual property dam-age. These loans have an interest rate of 4 percent for small businesses and 2.875 percent for private, nonprofit organizations with terms up to 30 years, and are restricted to small businesses without the finan-cial ability to offset the adverse impact without hardship. Applicants may apply online using SBA’s secure Web site at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela. Disaster loan information and application forms are also available from SBA’s Customer Service Center by calling (800) 659-2955 or e-mailing [email protected]. Individuals who are deaf or hard‑of‑-hearing may call (800) 877-8339. For more information about SBA’s disaster assistance programs, visit http://www.sba.gov/disaster. The deadline to return economic injury applications is June 26, 2014.

To: The Members of the Yosemite Highway120 Chamber of Commerce

Last year we had some member businesses ask us to

process our annual member dues billing earlier in the year, while summer revenue was still coming in. Due to the Rim Fire followed by the Yosemite National Park closure, we

unfortunately were not able to do so.

We know times are tough; our Chamber of Commerce will suffer the same reduced income and budget crunch as our member businesses. Member dues and the annual 49er

Festival represent the majority of our income during the year. In spite of lower than normal revenue from the 2013 49er Festival, your Chamber is determined to mount several

marketing campaigns to promote local business and tourism. Help us to help you, let’s work together to overcome

adversity and build a brighter future!

Please find enclosed your membership dues invoice for the 2013-2014 year. Payment is due no later than November

30th, and is considered late as of December 15

th.

There is loss of membership if no payment is received by De-cember 31

st, 2013.

We do NOT want to lose you as a member of our Chamber. If your business was severely impacted by the Rim Fire and Yosemite National Park closure, contact YCC to discuss how

we can work together to keep you as a Chamber member.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us, thank you. Your Yosemite Highway 120 Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors & Staff
