parents. She worked on a cotton farm. Harriet’s owner’s wife wiped her hard and often. When Harriet was 7, Brodas

rented her to another home.

underground railroad to freedom.• She was a spy, nurse, and a hero.

• She helped build homes for the sick and elderly in Auburm, New York.

• Harriet Tubman suffered from narcolepsy due to a head injury caused by an angry

overseer who was hurling a weight at another slave.

• Harriet Tubman led an armed expedition that liberated 700 slaves in South,

Carolina.
