Hello BurgerFi® franchise family–

We would like to start with a huge congratulations to all the franchise openings in 2013! At present we’ve opened 28 stores and are expecting 50 by year-end. WOW!

BurgerFi International also welcomes 13 new franchise groups to our ever-growing family and we have now added our first international franchisee in Vancouver,Canada. Welcome to all and congratulations!

This marketing newsletter will now be produced on a monthly basis by Zimmerman Advertising. We all are enjoying the growth of an exhilarating brand in the exciting QSR category, but the brand does not gain strength, credibility, and value without constant re-investment by BurgerFi International and the franchisees. It is up to us all to make sure that we spend the required amounts stated in your Franchise Agreements for the grand openings and on a monthly basis. Without constant re-investment in marketing we become stale and complacent and that is definitely not in the DNA of BurgerFi®. Zimmerman Advertising has an ever-growing asset library of marketing material that is readily available. Original Impressions can produce and deliver within hours or days any required physical material and Spectrum has all the approved POS ready to ship. To assist our franchisees andoperators in the approval process and to manage the required spends, BurgerFiInternational will announce the hiring of a Corporate Marketing Liaison within the next two weeks. This person will be an asset to be used by us all, and ensure that we all are doing our required part to develop our growing brand.

LETTER TO THE TEAMIt’s truly been an exciting first half of the year for BurgerFi®. We’re looking forward to opening about 22 more stores this year to continue the spread of the BurgerFication of the Nation!

I wanted to say a special thank-you to everyone for doing an amazing job thus far representing the brand. Thank-you!

Of course, turnover in this industry is inevitable and it’s human nature for all of us to forget certain details over time. The last thing we want is for any store to slip after all the hard work and commitment by all that has gone into opening each and every location. To help ensure we sustain our strong growth and brand identity we must continue to invest in training strong managers and crew members. It’s our daily staff that are the ones that can make or break a guest experience. Just as we must continue to invest in marketing our stores, investing in certified managers that can instill the brand DNA and proper systems to all crew members is crucial to our success. In fact, our strongest stores in the brand measured by sales, coaching visits, and shopper reports all have one thing in common – a strong core of certified managers. Don’t just take my word for it though. I encourage you to speak to franchisees that have recently sent people through our program. I’ve been told by owners that they’ve seen vast improvement in their stores since their newly certified managers have returned. Profitability, guest service, and staff morale have all improved. One franchisee said, “If I had known the results were going to be this good I would have sent more people even earlier.”

I can promise you that the long-term benefits of keeping certified managers on staff will surely outweigh the short-term expense or scheduling issues of sending them to get trained. We must all focus on the long-term success of our stores and the brand. Please let us know how we can help you achieve that. Our training department is standing by and they’re eager to work with you and your team.

Message from Ross Goldstein, General CounselGreetings! I am pleased to announce that BurgerFi® recently signed an agreement with American Express that will allow all franchisees to receive a discounted rate of 2.90% + $.05 per transaction when you accept an American Express card, which is a lower discount rate than you would receive on your own. Details on how you can take advantage of this specially negotiated rate will follow soon!

At BurgerFi® headquarters, we are all absolutely ecstatic with our growth. With each store opening, our brand makes another stride toward greatness. However, as you all know, there are certain extremely important formalities that must be followed to ensure the overall protection of our brand. As such, please be advised that we cannot schedule a store opening unless we have received proof of all required insurances and the properly completed EFT authorization form specifying bank account information, as detailed in your Franchise Agreements.

These guidelines will help facilitate our rapid expansion and ensure a prosperous future for all.

Social Media Update

GrowthThe corporate Facebook page is growing rapidly, like the franchise. The month of July saw a dramatic growth in the number of fans as we topped the 16,000 mark. This represented a 71% increase since taking over the account.

Merging to Corporate FacebookTo ensure brand consistency as well as to avoid customer confusion, we are merging all BurgerFi® accounts to the one corporate Facebook page. We will be sending a “how to” guide for you to review and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact the Social team.
