Growing up on a farm with aranch component, once or twicea year we would move cattle -always across a busy highway.It became an event where allthe neighbors with horseswould show up to demonstratetheir cowboy skills. Now someof the farmers had not riddentheir horse since the year be-fore. Sometimes it was like arodeo as the neglected horsesdid not like their rough day ofwork. The partnership with theneighbors was one of the mostvaluable times of friendshipsand fellowship, especiallyaround the cowboy lunch pre-pared by the host family.Ranches in our area still havethat partnership with some oftheir neighbors and it still works.
In the Christian faith, part-nerships are more important asthe benefits not only help todaybut may have eternal returns. Ibelieve the Baptist Associationcan be one of the greatest part-nership components to theChristian life. As a teenager myfamily tried to attend 20 meet-ings of the Plains Baptist Asso-ciation in Curry County, NewMexico. My Mom and Dad tookthe entire family to 10 regularBaptist Associational meetings
and 10 Baptist Youth Rallys.The focus of my family and myhome church at the time wasconnected to the Baptist Asso-ciation. I found connections toChristians in most everychurch that was a part of thepartnership.
The Kingdom of God is notbuilt on a Lone Ranger type ofprocess. Pastors and churchesthat go it alone are not followingthe Biblical pattern as God callsHis Church to love one anotherand to work together in buildingthe Kingdom of God. Missionar-ies like Paul and Silas, broughta connection of all the churchesthey touched to focus on eachother.
I may not be the greatestmissionary; however, my goal isto build partnerships with indi-viduals and churches in order tostrengthen God’s Kingdom.What about you? Are you readyto strengthen the partnershipfound in association with otherchurches? I think there is stillvalue in the association.
You could be a part of thepartnership of unity in buildingthe Kingdom of God right whereyou are!
