Twinned Parish News
Penance Services There are parish penance

Anthony’s and 7PM at Assumption. We are ½ way

with Him?
Stations of the Cross All are invited to join
us as we reflect on Jesus’ Passion on Fridays during
Lent at 5:30 PM, April 5, 12 at St. Anthony.
Please Note: When there is a funeral at either
parish, the daily Mass for that day is canceled.
Family Camping, August 9-11
Reservations have been made and there are a few
tenting spots left over and there might still be time
to make your own reservations for a cabin or
camper spot. If you would like one of the tent spots
call Molly to reserve. If you would like to reserve
your own cabin or camper spot you can go to:
https://www.co.meeker.mn.us/Facilities/Facility/De
tails/Lake-Koronis-Regional-Park-4 and click on the
“book now” link on the bottom of the page. If you
don’t want to camp, please “save the dates” to
come out for any of the days/evenings! Call Molly
at 320-250-8401 with any questions or to let her
know that you would like to take part of the
festivities!
RCIA Scrutinies On the 3

Sundays of Lent, we participate in the Scrutinies.
The readings chosen offer powerful images of
surrender, sin, conversion, faith, and healing. Take
this gift of the Church and use this group of readings
as Lenten reflections. The scripture readings for the
2
nd
and 3
rd
Scrutiny are listed below. Read them
slowly, asking the Lord to give you the grace to hear
what is being said to you. Share these readings with
your children or your spouse. 2
nd
Scrutiny (4
th
Sunday of Lent): 1 Samuel 16:1-13; Psalm 23:1-6;
Ephesians 5:8-14; John 9:1-41 3
rd
Scrutiny (5
th
Sunday of Lent): Ezekiel 37:12-14; Psalm 130:1-7;
Romans 8:8-11; John 11:1-45
*Attention lectors and musicians: the scrutiny
readings/psalms will be used for the 3rd, 4th and
5th Sundays for Lent at both parishes.
Mom's Morning - Saturday, April 6th
All moms are welcome to come join us for breakfast,
spiritual growth, prayer, & fellowship. The next time
we will meet is on Saturday, April 6th, 6:30 -8:00

A Gospel Meditation
"Neither he nor his parents sinned; it is so that
the works of God might be made visible through
him." The prevailing theology of Jesus' time led
people to believe that any kind of disability was a
punishment from God. So Jesus' disciples assumed
that the man born blind suffered that affliction
because of someone's sin: either his parents' or his
own. But Jesus sets the record straight. Not only
did he reject the idea that the blindness was a
punishment for sin; he also went so far as to
suggest that this very trial was an opportunity for
God's glory to be revealed.
And sure enough, it was. Jesus worked a
miracle of healing for the man who followed his
directions and "came back able to see." So it was
that the "works of God" became "visible" through
a man who was blind! But, ironically, not everyone
had the eyes to see the miracle. The Gospel tells
us that "there was a division among them" as they
debated whether this remarkable healing was really
an act of God.
Jesus stated that he came "so that those who
do not see might see." And so, who are we? Are
we blinded by our own expectations of how God is
supposed to work? Are we so caught up in our own
vision of what we wish would happen that we fail
to appreciate what is actually unfolding before our
very eyes? It is so easy to perceive trials,
disabilities, sickness, and misfortune as a curse or
the result of being abandoned by God. But today's
Gospel suggests another reality. In the midst of
these very difficulties, God wants to reveal himself,
to show his love and mercy. It may not always be
in the exact way we expect, but without a doubt,
even in these challenging realms, God is always at
work.

Church Cleaning Thank You! Thank you to all who helped with the
church cleaning last week. It was amazing to see so many men, women
and students work together to clean the church. It was amazing to see
so many participate. Your willingness to help is truly appreciated.
Thank You! Thank you to the volunteers who literally dropped
everything to take care of the water problems in the basement, including
shoveling snow, rerouting water, and floor cleanup. Your help was
invaluable and is much appreciated! -Janice Stommes

Traveling Chalice and Madonna
GOOD EXAMPLE is the most efficacious
apostolate. “You must be as lighted lanterns and
shine like brilliant chandeliers among men. By your
good example and your words, animate others to
know and love God.” ST. MARY JOSEPH ROSSELLO.
We celebrated the Feast of the Assumption this
week and no one in the world was as faithful as
Our Blessed Mother, Mary in her fiat to God's
call. The hosts of the Traveling Chalice and
Madonna are George and Mary Jo Ruhland.

Presence: The Mystery of the Eucharist The
Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist is one of the
things that set Catholics apart from the rest, but
many Catholics don't understand or believe in the
Real Presence. Where do you stand? Join us for this
Adult Faith Study on Wednesdays during Lent at St.
Anthony in the meeting room, 6:30-7:30.
Palm Weaving on Palm Sunday Immediately
following the 4:00 pm Mass on April 13, and the
10:00 am Mass on April 14 (Palm Sunday), members
of both parish communities will be teaching us all
how to weave our fresh palms into different shapes.
Please join us in the basement at Assumption and
the Faith Formation Center at St. Anthony to learn
this amazing trade and talent!
