Main contractor specialised ingeotechnical and civil engineering

> We serve a wide range of clients in the public and private sectors: central and local

government, industrial, general building and civil engineering contractors, property

developers, project promoters,...

> We offer a complete range of geotechnical processes, special foundations, underground

works, ground improvement and pollution treatment and control.

> We are therefore able to:

· resolve geotechnical problems for our clients, and

· construct their foundation and underground civil works projects.

What are our competitive strengths?

> Our versatility, since we combine the skills of both main contractor and specialist:

· We are able to coordinate all of the required trades and offer turnkey solutions for major

complicated infrastructure projects involving underground works.

· We are careful to maintain our original core expertise: ground technology, generally

acknowledged as the most complex aspect of a construction project.

> Our operational reliability:

· We have a track record of success, having completed more than 50,000 contracts in

more than 100 countries over the last 60 years.

· With our powerful logistics capacity, we can rapidly deploy human resources and

equipment of quality, quantity and unrivalled international diversity to provide a reliable

service in all circumstances.

> Our technical creativity:

· Our design engineers are able to provide innovative and safe alternative solutions.

· We have won a record number of industry awards, recognising our research and development

achievements in creating and introducing some of the most important innovations within our

profession.

> Our contractual professionalism:

· In our scrupulous respect to programme and budget, we pay the same level of

attention to small local contracts as we do to large international projects.

· We offer our clients a broad and flexible range of contractual options: technical

assistance, subcontract, main contract, design and construct, partnering…

Safety performance is the precondition of all other aspects of performance, and it is the

first proof of the quality of service we offer to our clients.

The internal Victor prize, created

in 2001, is awarded each year for

the best safety performance

recorded among the various

elements of our Group. The

motivating effect of this internal

competition has resulted in

significant progress in our overall

safety performance.

Significant business units

have already succeeded

in attaining our "Zero

Accident" target, showing

everyone that this is an

attainable objective for all.

Our success in this area is confirmed by several major external professional awards in

2003:

> First Prize for Safety from Entreprises Générales de France - BTP,

> First Prize for the "Best Safety Performance Subcontractor Award - Civil and

Foundations Section" in Hong Kong,

> Safety award presented by the Fédération Nationale des Travaux Publics.

> “Tulsa District Eagle Eye Construction Safety Award”, USA.

Soletanche Bachy's commitment tonew excavation processes has led totremendous progress. It enables:· correction of deviation of the excavation, · accumulation of recorded informationto optimise efficiency and assist automa-tic machine control,· real-time, automatic print-outs of fullreports on all operational data (verticality, excavation rate, depth, soil profile, obstructions, etc.).

Monitoring and controlGrouting

Grouting is a range of processes for soiltreatment that uses slurries to improvethe soil resistance or the soil permeability.

Soletanche Bachy applies major innova-tions to the standard grouting processes,

mainly in the following two areas:· The non-contaminating, long lastingand highly penetrable grout.· Electronics and computer technologyapplied at every stage, thus offeringtechnical precision and transparency.

As p e c i f i ccontrol systemdeveloped by SoletancheBachy allows real-time andprecise monitoring of pressure, volumes and rates of the grouting, in orderto place the grout exactly where it is required.

When underground works are located nearby existing buildings and structures, compensation grouting must be used to guarantee optimal safety .

The grouting control system has been extended for this purpose by Soletanche Bachy tointegrate in a closed loop the real-time monitoring of soil movements offered byGeoscope system (SolData) the automatic control of grouting plants together with theanticipation of settlements.
