Input data

• ST61 plan as on December 2003;• Limited to the assignments in bands IV/V;• Selected assignments with ERP 10 kW;• No additional transmissions were considered;

Technical considerations

• Analogue assignments to be converted into digital;• All assignment characteristics retained, except ERP

reduced by 7 dB;• No change to the assigned channel;• All digital transmissions were assumed to be

16QAM, code rate 2/3;• No receiving antenna directivity or polarisation

discrimination for mobile and portable indoor reception;

• For fixed reception receiving antenna directivity and polarisation were taken into account.

Approach to the analysis

• Analyses were performed for fixed, mobile and portable indoor reception;

• Each reception mode scenario was treated separately (no mixing of the reception modes);

• Only co-channel interference was considered;• The power sum method was used for multiple

interference cases.

Technical parameters used

• Minimum median usable field strength values used (at 471.25 MHz):• 47.0 dBμV/m fixed reception;• 76.0 dBμV/m mobile reception;• 84.0 dBμV/m portable indoor reception.

• Values corrected for frequency variation by:• 20log(f/471.25) fixed reception;• 30log(f/471.25) mobile and portable indoor

reception.

Technical parameters used continued

• Protection ratios:• 14.0 dB fixed reception;• 20.0 dB mobile reception;• 17.0 dB portable indoor reception.

• Combined location variation values:• 1.645*1.414*5.5 dB fixed and mobile reception;• 1.645*2.0*5.5 dB portable indoor reception.
