Introducing International Business Research Brazil 2012

Since 1988, the study associations of the Faculties of Business and Economics of the University of Groningen have organized independent research projects (ISP & SIS respectively) that focused on non-European emerging economies. Today, as the newly formed successor, International Business Research (IBR) offers you the possibility to investigate business opportunities in either the Brazilian or Indone-sian market.

Aimed at performing quality research at cost price for Dutch companies and non-profit organizations in emerging markets, IBR is the oldest and largest research project of its kind in the Netherlands. The quality of the project is guaranteed by an Advisory Board and a Board of Recommendation.

IBR Brazil is dedicated to offer you the best possible research in order for you to gain insight in the promising Brazilian market; ‘Discover the Amazon of potential.’

Why Brazil?

As the largest economy of Latin America, and with its economic growth rate of 7.6 per-cent in 2010, Brazil is recognized as one of the key growth markets in the world. It is in the process of opening its doors much wider; not only to foreign investors, but also literally to visitors of the World Cup Football in 2014 and the Olympic Games in 2016. The Nether-lands is one of the most important investors in today’s Brazilian economy, building on the century-long partnership and cooperation. In this context, it is no wonder that Brazil was selected as the country of focus for the International Business Research project of 2012.

Interesting Sectors of Brazil are:

• Maritime sector

• Infrastructure (seaports, airports, logistics)

• Sustainable energy

• Oil and Gas

• Water treatment

• Environmental technology

• Food processing industries

Over the years IBR has conducted research for over 150 organizations, including;

“On behalf of EA Broekema, I can warmly recommend the International Business Research (IBR) initiative. Their reports, which focused on the characteristics of the agricultural market of Argentina (2009) and Brazil (2010), provided us with valuable intelligence about the market of conveyor belts in these countries, which are key to our growth strategy.

It was a great pleasure to work with these highly enthusiastic students, who came well prepared and were very committed to the task. The young and dedicated teams brought this special energy that added fun to the work.

I strongly suggest that entrepreneurs consider IBR when exploring opportunities in emerging markets.”
