EVENT OVERVIEWThe 20th Anniversary of Offshore West Africa Conference and Exhibition, from the 26th to the 28th January 2016 at The Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos, Nigeria, played host to a record-breaking attendance for the 2nd year in succession. With over 2,600 visitors and delegates from 35 countries around the world.

Owned and Managed by PennWell Corporation, under the Auspices of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Endorsed by the Department of Petroleum Resources Nigeria, Offshore West Africa once again addressed key technology and development issues for the West African offshore oil and gas market, through a comprehensive educational conference program and three-day exhibition, under the theme “Positioning for a Sustainable Future”. Other sponsors included Diamond Sponsor, TOTAL, Gold Sponsors Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo), and others such as Chevron, ExxonMobil, Westfield Subsea, ABS, Royal ICH, JC International Ltd, Tilone Subsea, Ariosh, the Federal Ministry of Science & Technology and the Niger Delta Science, Technology and Bioenterprise Development.

As the premier technical forum for the oil & gas industry within West Africa, the 2016 event reached new heights, becoming the most successful event in its previous 19 year history. Offshore West Africa continued to boast a world‐class conference program, increased from a single to a dual-track event, emphasized by the Opening Plenary, Keynote Session and Panel Discussion line‐ups and presentations. In addition to this, a burgeoning Exhibition Floor full of both local and international organizations, took place with exhibitors promoting their services, equipment, technologies and innovations over 3 days, providing great networking, knowledge sharing and sales opportunities to all those present. The conference and exhibition once again provided the tools and resources to offshore upstream industry professionals that are seeking new business opportunities in the West Africa region, and for the second time in succession brought together both seasoned industry experts with young professionals as part of the Youth Empowerment Programme, whilst also continuing the Offshore West Africa CPD Conference supported by the Energy Institute (launched in 2015). Both of these initiatives were assisted by Lonadek and the Energy Institute as part of PennWell’s ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility plans.
