TEEN CREATIVE WRITING GROUP SERIES Mondays, Mar. 16; Apr. 20; May 184:30 - 5:30 p.m.Join Phil Locey, our resident author and graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill’s creative writing program, as he facilitates this group for aspiring writers. Refreshments provided.

Mar. 16: Essence of Storytelling – With an initial focus on the short story form, this meeting will include a discussion on the elements of a successful story and outlining to thoughtfully develop your story the way you want it told.

Apr. 20: Character, Plot, Setting – We’ll investigate the three major components of a story, how to weigh and balance them and tips to make each aspect stronger in your writing.

May 18: Pacing and Dialogue – It can be a trick to keep the action and backstory clipping along at a desirable pace. We will discuss building tension, avoiding info-dumps and the keys to using dialogue to serve multiple purposes as once.
