Brevard Paralegal Association
Happy New Year
Everyone! Once again
I’m struggling to find a
topic to write about. The
New Year always brings
with it a bit of a lull, at
least for me. The hustle
and bustle of the holidays
has ended and I’m trying
to get back into a
“normal” routine. That
being said, it’s a good
opportunity to thank
those who have helped
BPA throughout 2010.
Thanks to Tracy King and
Pat Bieringer, our VP and
Treasurer, for their time,
dedication and
organization to keeping
our records straight.
Thanks to Silvia Cowan
for her corporate duties
as our Secretary and
keeping the minutes
straight, and even more
so for straightening out
my errors if she ever
misses a meeting!
Thanks to Cathie
Cummings for her continued
promotion of BPA and for
overextending herself at
every opportunity. Thanks
to Toni-Marie D’Alessandro
for her tireless community
service work. Thanks to
Roma Molinaro and Debra
Clarke for their continued
guidance. Thanks to Sabine
Martel for organizing our
meetings, and thanks to Kim
Dexter for being on top of
things with our job bank.
We’re always in need of
your time, so if you have
any to spare, no matter how
little, let someone on the
Board of Directors know. I
hope 2011 will be a year of
seeing more new faces
involved in the day-to-day
business of BPA.
We’re kicking off 2011 with what I know will be a riveting presentation by David Volk. Please join us on January 13
th - David’s topic is “How
to Make Yourself Indispensable”; sounds like advice anyone could use. And from all of us at BPA, best wishes for the New Year!
Regards,
Kim
Brevard Paralegal

The chapters have been asked to put together a basket to be raffled for the upcoming Spring Seminar. BPA needs to band together and put together something great as we were unable to do so for PAF’s fall seminar. So put your creative thinking caps on for donations (either cash or an item) for a basket encompassing the Spring 2011 theme of "Weekend of Wishes...a pampered paralegal". BPA has 2-3 months to put the basket together.
Next month, we’ll have the return of the chapters’ events here in this spot! In the meantime, please visit PAF’s website for all statewide information.

This month’s community service project benefits and honors the life of Ted
Wetherbee, Penny Bell’s father. Penny’s family has asked that a donation be made
to Hospice of St. Francis in Ted’s name.
Hospice of St. Francis was the first hospice in Brevard County. In 1977, Emily Sasko, R.N., a
Melbourne nurse, formed Hospice of St. Francis, Inc. to serve Brevard County residents faced
with life-limiting illnesses. From its inception until 1988, the organization provided services
through unpaid volunteers. In 1988, Medicare and Medicaid certified Hospice of St. Francis for
provision of services through both programs. During 1990, the organization transitioned to a
paid professional staff, supported by a strong base of trained volunteers.
Now, Hospice of St. Francis operates on a strong medical model, which means we employ full-
time physicians who are active in the pain and symptom management of our patients. We have a
full-time Medical Director that is board certified in Family Medicine, Geriatrics and Hospice &
Palliative Care and three Hospice physicians to provide direct patient services.
Mission Statement
Hospice of St. Francis exists to provide compassionate, quality care for the terminally ill, support
for their loved ones and resources for community members faced with end-of-life issues.
Care for patients…support for loved ones.
Won't you please join us in honoring Mr. Wetherbee and supporting our friend,
Penny, by making a donation to this worthy cause? For information regarding
Hospice of St. Francis, please visit http://www.hospiceofstfrancis.com/. You will
be so impressed by their good work.
