All staff and students returning from Victoria must have a permit to enter NSW and are re-quired to self-isolate for a period of 14 days.
With the exception of staff and students who reside in a border town, all other staff and students who have been in Victoria in the 14 days before the commencement of school should not attend school until they complete the 14 days self-isolation period since they left Victoria. Please inform the school if you fit into this category.

A message from Rachel
Hi everyone,
We’ve had a very busy first week back at school,
getting straight into our learning. Students are
to be commended on their dedication in
reading rotations. They’re now challenging
themselves everyday to get all their ‘must do’s’
done and try and get up to some ‘can do’
activities done each day. Its been fantastic being
at Bongongo 5 days now, I feel like we get so
much more time together for quality learning.
This week our whole school sound focus is ou &
ow.
Yr 1 & 2 focus– ou, ow
Kindergarten focus– Oo
We are continuing with our letter formation and
forming our letters correctly. Its important that
we correct the way students form letters early
on in their schooling.
In Numeracy this week we will be focusing on
Addition and Volume and Capacity.
Lastly I would like to thank Mr Gorman and the
wider BPS community for their well wishes with
Robbie and my exciting news! We’re over the
moon and cant wait to welcome Peanut Harris
Jan 2021.
Kind Regards
Rachel
A message from Brad
Welcome to week 2!
What about the frosts! It looked like snow at school last Friday!
A quick staffing update at the school, for the remainder of the year, we will have Mrs Harris full time as she takes up Wednesday’s position on K-2. Mrs Lott will remain Monday through to Thursday and Mrs Luke will continue working 3 days Monday, Tuesday and Friday in the office.
Last week, our year 3-6 students began guitar lessons as part of our creative arts program. Students will begin by learning basic guitar chords before moving on to playing songs. We had a little practice of Bad moon arising last week to get us started.
This Friday, our students will begin a course on 3D printing. Students will learn about how to design and make an object, using a 3D printer through a video conference with our Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics support, Kelly Burke. I will also be very intrigued to see how this machine works! Stay tuned to see what our clever students will create!
I will be in a virtual meeting via zoom at school on Friday from 10:00am until 2:30pm. Mrs Harris will be on class.
Stay safe everyone, maintain your social distance and hygiene practices and thank you for keeping your children home if they are feeling sick.
That’s about all this week. Enjoy the week everyone!
Brad

SUPER SPELLERS FOCUS ON READING
Focus on Reading focus: Questioning.
“GOOD READERS ASK QUESTIONS”
This week we have been learning about posing questions before we read, during and after we read a text. We now have a grater understanding of why questioning plays an im-portant part in our self monitoring process as students read and wonder...
“does this
Today we read the text ‘The Stone Lion’.
We came up with questions to ask before we read the text, during and after. This really supported students to have a greater understanding of the text.
Did the lion pay a big role in
someone's life? -Finn Is it a real life story? -Scout
Is it really a stone Lion?
-George
Is the girl praying for the lion
to come alive? -Jack
Why does the girl need to be
there? -Archie
BEFORE
DURING
What happened to the girls
parents? -K-6
Why was his heart flickering?
-Scout
AFTER
How come the girl left the
baby? -Harry
Where was the lion living?- Max
Why did the lion not want to
move ever again? -Isobel
Why did girl grow her hair so
long? -Harry
How did the lion come alive? -

PDHPE
During PDHPE we have been practicing our catching, throwing and batting skills. As well as
‘team work’. This week we formed teams fairly and each team came up with a team name and
really enjoyed supporting each other in developing their T-ball skills no matter their age.

K-6 have been learning about Vol-
ume and Capacity. This week we be-
gan a mathematics STEM challenge.
Students were put into teams of 2
and had to create a 3D container
that would hold 293 pieces of pop-
corn.
These were our students creations.
Stay tuned... in next weeks news-
letter to see who’s structure held
the 293 pieces of popcorn.
