Our Outreach to Haiti
Since our inception almost 6 years ago, our parish has reached out to the people of Haiti. Almost 20 parishioners have traveled there to get to know the people, their faith, their culture and their needs. Our primary work has been to the town of Baraderes where we have helped build a school, a well, and a garden as well as supplying sewing machines, yarn and solar panels. Recently we received a letter from Sr. Denis Desil who coordinates our efforts there. It is unedited. She writes: Dear Fr. Dough (she always spells my name with an
“H”) and parishioners at BT,
We thank you for sending Tom and Carolyn
(Simmonds) to help us for the annual clinic for the
population of Baraderes. Thanks also for the
economic support which helps us very much for some
important expenses like medicines and fares for
doctor’s transportation and food also. We appreciate
your efforts for us in Haiti.
This week is a real busy week for us. This
afternoon our driver went to get two ophthamologists
for us. The clinic is going to be tomorrow. The dental
and general clinics are over. We registered about
more than 700 people. 200 more arrived
unannounced. We have some rains so it is good for the
people. The weather is pleasant but the road is sleeper
(I think she meant slippery).
Your church makes a huge difference in the life of
the people in Baraderes. We got people all over
Baraderes for this clinic. We thank you for the good
work you have done to support our ministries in Haiti.
May Jesus continue to bless you and your
ministries at Blessed Trinity parish? (Yes, she put the
question mark there! That is an automatic grammar
correction, but it was kind of humorous). Please
present our best regards to the parishioners. Have a
blessed Lent time.
With deepest gratitude and prayers,
Sr. Denis Desil, PSST
PSST stands for Little Sisters of the Poor of St. Therese of the Child Jesus. The letter was typed. Sr. Denise added the following in her own handwriting: We saw 570 people for general consultation with a
doctor. We attended to 230 people for eye doctors. We
saw 11 people for the dentist. That’s 911 patients in a
week.
We thank you very much for your support.
Our 5th annual parish fundraiser for Haiti will be April 8 at the Knights of Columbus Hall on W 130th and Lorain from 6-10pm. Tickets are $20 and include pizza, pasta, salad, soda and draft beer. Dinner will be served from 6:30-8:30pm. Tickets will be available this week after Mass and at the rectory. There will also be a Chinese auction and 50/50 sideboards. For more information call Marge Sheridan at 252-2514.
FROM FATHER DOUG’S DESK!
March 20, 2016 Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord2
Join our parish team for the Run Puritas 5K/1 Mile Fun Run on Sat., April 30. We need at least 10 participants to make up a Blessed Trinity team and qualify for a reduced registration fee of $15
each. Race information and registration forms are at the back table in church and at the rectory.
The Sacred Triduum are the three holiest days of our li-
turgical year. Every effort should be made to spend these
three days in intense prayer and reflection. Beginning with
the Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday, we re-
call Christ’s last day on earth. With his many disciples, we
walk with him in his passion and death on Good Friday
and rise with him at the Easter vigil. All liturgical minis-
ters should attend the vigil here as we welcome the newly
baptized and those entering full communion into our par-
ish.
Taize Holy Week Prayer Join us on Tuesday of Holy
Week, March 22, at 7 P.M. for a meditative evening pray-
er of chants, readings and silent prayer. Taize Prayer is
held at River's Edge, 3430 Rocky River Drive. It is led by
members of our parish choir. Join us!
BOUNTIFUL BASEMENT items always needed are: tun-

“Thank You!” to the 85 disciples who worked our Lenten Fish Fries. This has been another success story of you answering the call to serve. You came up with ideas to try that might improve the event and we worked out a very good routine in those first weeks. Thank you for making it fun to work at a fish fry! Week after week you stepped up to answer the call for more volunteers, even when it meant trying a job that was new. You took the time to train those new on the job and accepted disciples of all ages working beside you. You gave us your best – and our customers were impressed. They came, enjoyed, and came back again. Thank you for a great Fish Fry season! (financial results will be shared at a later date)
Thanks to all who parcipated in the Night at the Races
and made it such a huge success and a fun me. The
profit from the event was $7657.32.!
