About RP Adam Ltd

Today, as a fourth generation, independently owned family business, it continues to prosper, and specialises in the manufacture of cleaning and disinfection chemical products for the leisure, hospitality and health sectors. The company is registered to ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 for quality and environmental management standards.

RP Adam Ltd deals primarily through a national and regional distributor network, which in turn supplies end user businesses. The company is highly respected by end users and distributor partners for both the quality of its products and its on-going commitment to being the outstanding provider of service in the industry.

Recent innovations in digital communications, between our field sales and service team, head office and clients, have set RP Adam Ltd apart from the crowd.

At our purpose-built 65,000 sq. ft. Selkirk base, we manufacture and stock a core range of Arpal branded chemical products. When you buy the Arpal “Blue Box” you are not just buying chemicals, you are buying into the quality, value and care ethos of the business.

All our products are developed in our on-site laboratory. With a can-do attitude and a passion for how our “Blue Box” products perform across all market sectors, we create high quality formulations in a range of pack sizes, to suit the high traffic hospitality, health and commercial cleaning sectors.

Our manufacturing history, formulating experience and flexibility enables us to also create bespoke products for own label customers and niche market sectors. Although "Blue Box" represents the hero Arpal brand, we also manufacture over 250 "White Box" lines under own label.

RP Adam Ltd is much more than a company simply manufacturing chemical products. Our primary aim is to be seen as the outstanding provider of service in our industry by being within reach of our customers and distributors at all times, irrespective of their size, location and market sector.

We are a highly competent, credible and capable chemical manufacturing company, with a service artery running through the body of the business – our blue chip client list demonstrates that our credentials and capabilities are valued.

In 1891 Robert Purves Adam started a business in the small town of Galashiels in the Scottish Borders, manufacturing a range of cleaning and bleaching agents for the local textile industry.

About Arpal Gulf LLC

RP Adam’s long term relationship with the Middle East began in the mid-1970s when the current Chairman visited the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and reached agreement for the import of Arpal branded chemicals into the Kingdom. In 1983, the company was recognised as an outstanding ambassador for UK business abroad, when it was awarded the Queens Award for Export Achievement. In the early 1990s we took our first steps into the Gulf and, seeing the huge potential in the region, set up Arpal Gulf LLC in 1996.

Since then, Arpal Gulf LLC has steadily grown in parallel with the spectacular development of the Emirates as a whole, servicing an ever maturing market across all sectors, from leisure to industry and

hospitality to health. With a central hub in Dubai, a brand new GMP accredited manufacturing facility, an office in Abu Dhabi and a network of distributors throughout the region, the company is ideally placed to service the needs of its clients and develop new opportunities throughout the Middle East and beyond.

The UAE is one of the few economies in the world where private sector growth is accelerating rather than losing pace, and the ideal location for an ambitious company to invest. Now with a multi-lingual, multi-talented workforce of over thirty people, Arpal Gulf continues to invest in the talent and resources required to exceed the expectations of a demanding and sophisticated marketplace.

In UAE we believe in doing the job right first time every time, using our own engineers and field service personnel rather than contractor services, thus ensuring that we deliver our quality promises every day. As in UK, when customers buy Arpal “Blue Box” products, they are buying quality, value and reliability.

Whether in UK or abroad, we don’t just sell chemicals; it goes much further than that - we deliver clean plates, clean linen and hygienically clean surfaces within a framework of a robust and dependable service and support package. www.arpalgulf.com

The Arpal brand has been visible in the Middle East for over 35 years. Arpal Gulf LLC is a wholly owned subsidiary company of RP Adam Ltd and serves the GCC countries and others in the region.

R P Adam Ltd accesses the market both through an extensive network of regional and national distributor partners and on a direct supply basis. The chosen route to market will be discussed and agreed with the end user customers to ensure their requirements are met In Full, First Time and On Time.

“We concentrate on chemicals and associated services and leave the one-stop shop to others ”

Accessing the MarketBy utilising the expertise of regional and national distributors, we help reduce road miles and carbon emissions by making fewer but larger deliveries to our partners’ premises, for onward distribution into the local market.

We focus all our energies in the manufacture of chemical products and not in the provision of non-chemical consumables. This allows us to do what we do best – develop and manufacture high quality formulations and provide

an outstanding service to end user customers on behalf of our distributor partners. We concentrate on chemicals and associated services and leave the one-stop shop to others.

Scotland’s other cherished liquid asset 54 R. P. Adam Ltd.

Manufacturing chemicals in the picturesque setting of the banks of the River Ettrick, dictates that environmental responsibility will always be at the forefront of our planning and manufacturing operations. With a policy of ongoing and continued investment in site improvement, a requirement for all our suppliers to meet ethical standards, and respect for Health & Safety and Environmental legislative standards, our aim is to ensure that our business is sustainable to meet the demands of the 21st Century.

Holding the Future in Our Hands

EnvironmentalResponsibility

all our staff, with a built-in requirement for continuous improvement, but this doesn’t mean that we can ignore some obvious truths.

As a business, we have always recognised our environmental responsibility. This extends beyond what we do in our factory to the products that we manufacture, how they are packed and, in a safety conscious world, how they are dispensed to minimise risk at all stages of the supply chain.

Maintaining our ISO 14001 registration forces us to measure, record and to, an extent, justify the resources we use. We are independently audited to ensure that we comply with all

environmental legislation, and if we don’t measure up, our certificate gets taken away – so there is no room for complacency.

We continue to use surfactants that meet current European standards for biodegradability. We provide product guidance information and MSDS so that our products can be used responsibly. All products are classified for health, safety and environmental impact in accordance with current European Directives and labelled appropriately.

We assess the environmental impact of everything we do and constantly review our performance against environmental business

targets, including waste reduction, water and energy consumption, and CO2 emissions etc.

A copy of our full Environmental Policy is available on our website.

In recent years we have made significant investments in our business to increase productivity and efficiency, but we are mindful of the additional duty of care that we have to reduce our environmental impact. This can be a tricky balancing act but we fully understand that this is an on-going and continuous exercise and a pre-requisite of any meaningful environmental management system.

The environmental management of all processes carried out at our manufacturing site in Selkirk has been acknowledged by the British Standards Institute and we are proud to have been awarded the internationally recognised ISO14001 certification. RP Adam

takes the view that environmental awareness must be woven into the fabric of what we do and is integrated into our existing Quality Management systems (ISO 9001) through the commitment of all members of staff.

Effectively, it is impossible for any manufacturing business to be totally “green”. The term green is also open to many different interpretations. Materials have to be consumed, products have to be transported, packaging has to be used but what matters most is that these resources are used carefully to get maximum value in the most effective way.

The paradox is that the market and our

customers demand the benefits that our industry provides - from disinfectants that reduce the risk of food poisoning to detergents that clean clothes. The fact is that chemicals are necessary to make businesses run smoother and make life that bit better for everyone. There will always be a need to balance the negative environmental impacts associated with delivering products or services with the positive contributions that the products make.

In previous statements on environmental issues, we have adopted a pragmatic view and this continues to be our position. Attainment of ISO 14001 registration is testament to the hard work and vigilance of

“Ensuring our business is sustainable to

meet the demands of the 21st Century ”

Training

HARMFUL FLAMMABLE TOXIC OXIDISING CORROSIVE IRRITANTDANGEROUS TO THE ENVIRONMENT

We support all distributor partners and major end user customers with a comprehensive service and training package. It is in our mutual interest to ensure that users of our products know how to use them safely and effectively. We invest considerable resources in our training programmes to ensure that our key messages are understood and put into practice by our customers each and every day.

CORROSIVE DANGEROUS TO THE ENVIROMENT

HARMFUL IRRITANTFLAMMABLE OXIDISING

New hazard symbols will replace the orange square symbols by 2015.

Training in the safe and effective use of our chemicals is vital, and we have developed a comprehensive range of support and reference materials to enhance our face to face training sessions. These valuable reference tools offer guidance to help eliminate common mistakes, improve cleaning performance and ensure that staff are working in a safe and risk free environment. We offer our clients a number of cleaning and safety training courses, supported by Product Guidance & Material Safety Data Sheet manuals, colour-coded wall charts, interactive CD-ROMs and recommended Standard Operating Procedures. You will

benefit from practical, hands-on training in your place of work. Training can be tailored to your precise needs - from basic induction training for new staff to refresher training for existing staff. All staff can be certificated in the use of our products, and training records signed for inclusion in personnel files, to ensure that all staff understand the importance of safe working practices. For customers where staff turnover is high, this is a crucial resource to draw upon. A KEY TO STAFF SAFETYTo help comply with COSHH responsibilities we have recently developed an updated

Chemical Safety presentation for our distributors and end user customers. As before, the focus is on three key areas:

1) Identifying hazardous products,2) Helping reduce the risk of harm to staff, 3) Understanding the generic Golden Rules

when handling commercial cleaning detergents.

The presentation is delivered by one of our field Customer Service team with the sole objective of ensuring that users of RP Adam Ltd chemicals get the maximum benefits from using our products.

“Always striving to achieve pristine results in a risk free environment ”

Arpal Gulf’s sales team provide commercial cleaning and hygiene products and solutions for food safety, food and beverage hygiene, floor care, housekeeping and room care, laundry, hand hygiene and industrial

The use of “Tracking” technology allows us to match field resources to daily jobs as they are raised, thus ensuring we maximise personnel resources to optimum levels. Although we use off the shelf devices, the call planning and digital reporting software is bespoke to RP Adam Ltd.

Our knowledgeable head office team is trained to deal with a huge variety of customer requests. Every customer call received - whether it is an engineering call, an order placed, or a request for information or training - is logged directly into our customer relationship management database.

RFID: Equipment and Chemicals Inventory Control

RP Adam Ltd has identified that there are two key areas within a customer’s premises where regular visual checks offer protection to both the customer and the company:

* Customer chemical stock levels - ensuring customers are not tying up cash with unnecessarily high levels of stock.

* The location, state and operational efficiency of RP Adam Ltd owned dosing equipment.

Where inventory control is a key driver for multi-site customers, the company utilises Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology which is, in simple terms, an intelligent electronic tagging system.

As well as tagging all electronic and manual chemical dosing equipment, RP Adam also places specially encoded tags within store cupboards. On every visit, CSRs use their mobile phones to scan the encoded sticker and report on any material anomalies. For example, overstocking at a site can be recorded, photographed and emailed to an appropriate person in real time, and immediate steps taken to prevent further orders being placed until stocks have reverted to normal levels.

Clients are simply one click away from receiving

a brochure, a product guidance sheet, a wall

chart or an MSDS sheet, in an instant.

Proactive field support is critical in the smooth

running of a client contract. Our clients don’t

see salesmen - they see CSRs who act as

technical consultants - to troubleshoot, to

check that equipment is working correctly, to

check that the correct stocks are on site and to

ensure that chemical training of staff is offered

on every visit. Using Face Time technology our

CSR Team has access to all Operations, Sales,

Engineering and Technical Managers; thus

giving the customer a virtual team on site.

Use of the latest digital technology allows

us to schedule and log service calls to sites

throughout the UK, and provide client

management with real time information and

progress reports.

We can provide multi-site clients with service

level reports, which allow quantitative and

qualitative audits of our daily and monthly

field call activity. This ensures that our service

promises are met, on time and in full, every day.

A unique field documentation collation

system allows clients to see the daily, weekly

or monthly activity across all sites within their

estate - by department.

Our field team’s diaries are electronically

updated daily so new business project work

can run concurrently with scheduled existing

business service visits.

Customer Services Engineering Services

that our engineering department is aware of the current status of all outstanding work. Within minutes of a report being completed and sent from a customer’s site, our engineering department is alerted to any urgent requests and can respond accordingly. Wasted time is wasted money; therefore a prompt, stable, efficient and professional engineering function is absolutely critical to our capability credentials. Whether it be high maintenance in-flight catering operations, or a large commercial laundry or an estate of budget hotels,

The engineering department co-ordinates a team of 20 fully trained electrical engineers, covering the UK and Ireland, to install and repair sophisticated electronic dosing systems for dishwashers and laundry machines. This level of cover now allows us to give a customer guarantee that all breakdowns will be covered within two working days and all new installations completed within 5 to 10 working days (from initial request to completion). Our bespoke RP Adam App enables our CSRs and Engineers to report and log work on a “real time” basis, ensuring

we apply the same principles - plan properly, and do it right first time, on time and to our customers satisfaction. In practice, this means that if we receive a report of a breakdown in an area where we already have an engineer in operation, there is a good chance that it can be attended to that same working day.

We are committed to

be seen by our customers as

the outstanding provider of

service in our industry ”

With a reputation for being specialists in the residential care, hospitality and leisure markets, where regular quality field service is demanded, the company is being approached by more and more clients who want to gain the benefit of its innovative new approach to customer service.

We engage our technicians to install, service and maintain our manual and electronic chemical dosing stations. We regularly conduct titration tests of the wash tank solution to ensure the correct dose levels are being maintained and temperature tests so that clients have hygienically clean and dry crockery, cutlery and glassware.

We have a team of dedicated field Customer

Service Representatives (CSRs) spread across

the UK to ensure we are never more than

2 hours drive from any customer premises.

This team, supported by colleagues at head

office, is the life-blood of the company

- and is the reason we retain business.

We have developed and evolved a unique

“real time” field service reporting system,

enabling site visit reports, training records,

information and engineering jobs/requests

to be sent to and from clients’ premises

instantly via our bespoke RP Adam App.

Using iPad technology each CSR has access

to our “Cyber-Office”, giving them the tools

to answer customer queries and questions.

“Our aim is to never give a customer a reason to go elsewhere for cleaning chemicals ”

Why Choose Us?We are credible, competent and capable of handling any size of cleaning chemical contract, providing premium quality formulations and a service package that is unrivalled in our industry. Here are some of the benefits of choosing RP Adam Ltd as your long term chemical partner:

6. We promote, provide and maintain the use of manual and electronic controlled dilution systems wherever possible to control consumption and costs of core high volume products. This is backed up by a team of dedicated field technicians and customer service representatives.

7. We provide the best value to our customers in terms of products, service and costs.

8. We provide proactive field service calls and preventative engineering services - all of which are logged on digital visit documentation so our clients and partners can audit our service promises against agreed key performance indicators.

9. We offer technical assistance and advice on all cleaning problems and can provide inventory control services for managing clients’ stock levels.

10. We work very hard to ensure that we forge good staff and management relationships with both our end user clients and distributor partners.

1. We are proud to be a UK manufacturer, with our own chemical factory and laboratory which is registered to ISO 9001:2008 and 14001:2004 for quality and environmental standards.

2. Our disinfectants and sanitisers are independently tested to the European BS EN 1276 standard to demonstrate our bactericidal claims.

3. We are constantly reviewing processes and keeping abreast of changes in European legislation governing the chemicals industry, so that our customers have total peace of mind that the products they are buying are bona fide and legally compliant.

4. We reduce the number of chemical lines in use to an absolute minimum - knowing that the quality of the core products will never let us down.

5. We do not infringe on our distributors’ business activity - by focussing on the manufacture of chemicals and associated back up services.

In today’s world we are being constantly reminded of our own personal responsibilities regarding the environment. Reducing plastic waste is a key area for consumers of commercial detergents. When dispensed through a bottle fill dispenser, each 2x2lt pack of Arpax concentrate yields the equivalent of 44 cases of 6 x 750ml packs which equates to 264 bottles and triggers that would otherwise be thrown in the bin. The environmental benefits of concentrates and controlled dilution systems cannot be under-estimated.

When cleaning public areas, whether it be guest bedrooms, a busy shopping centre or a pub, the primary focus is to ensure that the “visitor experience” is a positive one. Our range of cleaners, polishes and air conditioning products give domestic cleaners the tools to deliver that positive image. Differing water conditions around the country often demand different product formulations, and fragrances are always subjective, so we have developed a menu of choice to satisfy all conditions and tastes.

Washrooms are potential hotbeds of bacterial contamination, and must therefore be kept clean and free of germs and mal-odours. Surfaces such as toilet seats, flush handles, taps and door handles can harbour harmful bacteria and viruses which can contaminate hands and lead to illness. It is imperative that these areas are cleaned thoroughly on a regular basis to both maintain the positive hygienic appearance of a clean washroom and to minimise the chance of cross contamination from these high risk areas.

Scotland’s other cherished liquid asset 2726 R. P. Adam Ltd.

We manufacture a small range of high quality hard and soft floor treatments for building services managers and contractors. Our range of carpet shampoos, floor strippers, seals, polishes and maintainers offer outstanding visual and durability results, particularly when applied to properly prepared surfaces using appropriate machinery and equipment.

In commercial premises, it is of paramount importance that all staff maintain clean and hygienic hands during their daily work, to reduce the risk of cross contamination between staff and customers. Non perfumed soaps are available for back of house and perfumed soaps for front of house areas. Our hand soaps, sanitisers and alcohol gels come in three convenient pack types: bulk-fill for refillable hand soap dispensers, pouches for pouch dispensers and convenient retail type pump packs.
