STEP 1: Evaluate what's making you procrastinateThere is something that's triggering your procrastination and if we can get to the bottom ofit, then we have a better chance of stopping it in its tracks. A lot of times we procrastinatebecause we blow our tasks out of proportion, thinking that we aren't well-equipped, wedon't have time or we won't do a good job so we end up pushing the task off until later.

Use the space below to brainstorm the areas of your life that are triggering yourprocrastination habits.

STEP 2: Aviod distractionsI would say that 99% of the time when I am procrastinating, I have a screen of some sortin front of me, whether its my cell phone or computer. A lot of times we check our phonesevery few seconds without even realizing it! This makes it so much harder to focus on theimportant tasks ahead of you.

Draw a line down the center of the box below, dividing it into two. One one side, writedown all of your distractions and on the other side write down your action plan to avoidthese distractions. Whether it's shutting off your phone for 20 minutes to study ordownloading an app that blocks you from checking your device for a certain amount oftime, there are many creative ways to help you break away from distractions.

STEP 3: Set a goal in mindIt's much easier to achieve success if you have something to work towards. Set realisticgoals and reward yourself every time you reach them. They don't have to be huge goals, either. They could be as simple as power studying for 15 minutes without distractions orcompleting X amount of tasks in a day. This will hold you accountable and make you feelmore motivated to take on the day.

Write a list of your short-term and long-term goals below. If you want, you could even getmore specific and write out the actions you will take to achieve those goals.

STEP 4: PrioritizeEvaluate which tasks are your largest, most important and which ones are your smallest. To maximize productivity, switch between larger and smaller tasks throughout the day(prioritizing the largest ones first). For example, I will work on a large task for 45 minutesand then switch to a smaller task for 15 minutes before returning to the larger task.Scientists say this is the most effective way to be productive because you are giving yourbrain an opportunity to take a break by switching back and forth.

Make a list of your largest tasks first, then underneath write down the smaller ones(below). Afterwards, write down how much time you will spend on each task and set aschedule in your planner.

STEP 5: Break up your tasksPerhaps you have a large task looming over your head, causing you to feel overwhelmed. For me personally, if I get too overwhelmed, I procrastinate. That's why it's important tobreak large tasks into smaller, bite-sized ones so we can celebrate the small victories andmaintain our momentum.

THE MORNING BUZZ | PAGE 7

Write down your most daunting tasks below and why they seem overwhelming to you. Digdeep and try to figure out the psychology behind it. Once you write these tasks down, break them into smaller tasks and write down the steps you will take to complete them. You may start to realize that those tasks weren't as scary and difficult as you originallythought.
