Update on 6 Result Areas and Special Initiatives

Result Updates: Result AreasResult Area 1: Reduce Stigma

• Formed two workgroups to tackle the selected strategies and activities

• Developing a community survey to validate common language and messages

• Identifying key informants to interview

• Identifying current stigma reduction efforts for opportunities to align

Result Area 2: Prevent and Act Early

• All population-specific workgroups—prenatal to five years old, school-aged children, and older adults—have selected their strategies and activities of focus for 2020

• Population-specific workgroups have been formed to begin tackling the selected activities

• Forming a transitional age youth with the leadership of Social Services Administration and Western Youth Services

Result Updates: Result AreasResult Area 3: Close Treatment Gaps and Improve Access

• Selected strategies and activities of focus

• Breakout workgroups have been formed to target activities selected

• Working with the Behavioral Health Training Collaborative to support in identifying training needs of the MH and SUD workforce

Result Area 4: Strengthen Crisis Response

• A study of the current crisis response system is underway. Opportunities for improvement and public-private resource integration are being explored.

• Developing CSU referral/discharge protocols & Family Support Tool Kit

Result Updates: Result AreasResult Area 5: Establish Community Wellness Hubs

• Construction is moving quickly. The first set of walls are now standing. The remaining walls will be raised at the end of this month.

• Community groups, such as consumers and family members have come together to give feedback about some of the architectural design elements.

• The construction is on track to be completed in late 2020.

Result Area 6: Align Partners, Policies and Programs

• Opportunities/strategies identified for aligning, coordinating, and leveraging existing work

• Established Be Well Orange County Stewardship Group

Be Well Stewardship Group

The Be Well OC Stewardship Group provides two primary functions:

1.Promote alignment of strategies and activities across the varied

workstreams of the 6 Results outlined in the Blueprint

2.Support broad community engagement and meaningful

participation in Be Well activities by establishing and overseeing

criteria for Backbone Organizations, Impact Organizations and

Critical Community Voices/Stakeholders (Critical Voices)

Health, CalOptima, local private insurance plans, and related organizations (providers, etc.) to explore potential rate structures, braiding strategies, provider requirements, and incentives, as well as legal, fiscal and regulatory requirements.

The Promise to Talk Green Bench symbolizes the power of starting a caring conversation about mental health in a safe, comfortable and familiar place.

Placed at various locations in OC:

• Boys and Girls Clubs

The bench is mobilized by Promise to Talk a local activation of Each Mind Matters OC

Announcements – EMM Lime Green Light Activation MH Matters Month

Wednesday, May 6, 2020

The Each Mind Matters Lime Green City Lights Activation is asking cities across CA to join in a statewide movement to raise awareness and express unity by lighting key city buildings in lime green, the official color of the mental health movement.

By shining a light on your city, collectively we can show all CA they are not alone.
