A CHASE TO WIN Beginning of a new end. W oman's Era took the initiative to engage the young women of this generation in an exhil- rating experience of competition and team work in the first ever Girls’ High School Basket Ball Championship 2014. T he second and final day of the tournament started with a lovely rainy weather where four winners’ teams who entered the Semi-finals after winning the knockout round were- Modern School Barakhamba road, Delhi International School, St Michael Sen Sec School and Sanskriti School. The Semi-finals E ight eminent high schools of Delhi and NCR were invited to Modern School, Barakhamba Road to compete in a basketball championship organised by Woman’s Era. The two- day championship which was held on 13th and 14th October 2014 on the courts of Modern School turned out to be huge success from all perspectives. The Championship Blocking each other’s path do score basket. And it’s a basket.

The second level was not that easy

for the competing teams, as the

competition was betweenthe best

teams of the tournament. But this

deterred neither the teams, nor the

players. What was left was just enthu-

siasm of the teams and excitement of

the onlookers. Though both teams put

up their best, Modern School showed

hold on their court andemerged as

winners, beating Delhi International

School with a score of 49/17.

was played between Modern

School Barakhamba road and Delhi

International School competing to play

a thrilling game.

The fifth round

Participating players from ModernSchool were: Malvika Aneja, ShivikaVikram, Rhea Gupta, ShatakshiVikram, Anoushka Gupta, MadhuKumari, Shivani Mehta, Gresshaa Mehta,Kashni Sail and Pretika Rawal, led bythe captain Ananya Khanna under theguidance of coach Rajesh Kumar.Players of the opposing team DelhiInternational School were: Simran Dixit,Jaya Sharma, Neha Rawat, Shivani,Bhawna Swami, Konika, Mandeera,Smriti Tomar, Nisha Bisht, Nikita,Sarika led by the captain Simran underthe guidance of coach Sudhir Mishra.

Mamta Nath from Delhi Press familypresented the losing team DelhiInternational School with the

Appreciating the talent

Delhi Internationa School showedsportsman spirit and took thedefeat in a very positive way. Theirplayers showed glimpse of satisfactionon their faces. On the other hand,players of Modern School were joyfuland enthusiastic as they made their wayto the final step to the trophy.
