Bruno Quadras House originally a residential building from the 18th century in a corner of La Rambla, was reformed by Josep Vilaseca in the late 19th century, in his typical eclectic, pre-modernista style. The building was known for the umbrellas shop owned by Bruno Quadras that stood on the ground floor.

The Casa Calvet (1898-1900) was also designed by Antoni Gaudí. Compared to his other work it is Spartan in the meager decoration of the facade. For this building Gaudí was awarded the architectural prize of the City of Barcelona.

The Fundació Antoni Tàpies was created in 1984 by the artist Antoni Tàpies. The Fundació opened its doors in June 1990 in the building of the former Montaner i Simon publishing house, a work of the architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner, restored and refurbished by the architects Roser Amadó and Lluís Domènech Girbau. (Constructed between 1880 and 1885)
