Baptist Briefs July2013 Culture of Safety Survey Begins July 29 At Baptist Health, we strive to create an environment where our patients feel safe and our employees feel responsible for and empowered to provide the best in patient safety. As part of this effort, we are inviting all staff who directly impact patient care to participate in an online AHRQ (Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality) Hospital Culture of Safety Survey from July 29 to August 11. We are partnering with the Advisory Board Company to administer the survey and your answers will be completely confidential. It will take 10 - 15 minutes to complete and can be completed using any computer with internet access. You are welcome to complete the survey at work or, if you feel more comfortable, from home. An email link will be sent to all employees who are being asked to take the survey. The survey link also will be available on the home page of the Employee Intranet. Important Reminder from Benefits Please take a few minutes to make sure Baptist Health has your correct home address. Important 2014 Benefits information will be mailed to your home address this year and you don’t want to miss it. To view or change your address on the Employee Intranet, go to Employee Services and select “Self Service/ Personal Information/Home and Mailing Address” and click the “Edit” option. Retirement Plan Update When planning for retirement, it’s important to select a mix of investments to suit your retirement goals. With that in mind, Baptist Health has determined that the following changes should be made to enhance the available investment options under your Retirement Plans (“Plan”) administered by VALIC. Volunteers Needed for Health Fair in Orange ParkBaptist will be participating in a health fair at Calvary United Methodist Church, Orange Park, on Saturday, August 3, 8 am – noon. Clinical volunteers are needed to assist with blood pressure screenings, BMI assessments, bone density screenings and counseling on heart health screening results. Baptist ClayDr. Dale Boyd Moves to Clay Medical CampusThe office of Dale Boyd, MD, Baptist Primary Care Fleming Island, is the latest to open in the medical office building on the Baptist Clay Medical Campus. Dr. Boyd began seeing patients at Baptist Clay on July 9. The office hours, phone number and fax number remain the same. The new address is 1747 Baptist Clay Drive, Suite 340 Fleming Island. Baptist Beaches New Environmental Services DirectorHugo Rivera, Operations manager at Baptist Jacksonville and Wolfson Children’s Hospital for the past six years, is the new director of Environmental Services at Baptist Beaches. Hugo’s dynamic and thoughtful leadership has been instrumental in the many improvements made in Environmental Services on the Jacksonville campus. Congratulations, Hugo, and welcome to Baptist Beaches!

Safe Sitter ClassBaptist Beaches will offer a Safe Sitter® class for girls and boys, ages 11-13, on Saturday, August 3, in Conference Rooms A & B. The class is $45 and teaches adolescents how to care for young children and handle potential emergencies. To register, call 202.CARE (2273).

Baptist Nassau Construction Begins on New Medical Office Building and Other EnhancementsConstruction is underway on the $8 million project that will reshape the look of the Baptist Nassau campus and add a three-story medical office building. Physicians and other offices are planned for the new building that is scheduled to open in the summer of 2014. The project also includes:

• Constructing a new parking lot and courtyard, along with repaving and landscaping 18th Street to create a smoother entrance into the hospital

• Relocating physician offices now in the brick building beside the hospital into the new medical office building

• Adding a covered walkway connecting the new office building to the hospital

Baptist South Kudos!Congratulations to Kathy Newton, RN, MSN, on receiving her Masters of Science degree in Nursing from Florida Atlantic University, and to Lisa Degroat on receiving her bachelor’s degree in Allied Health Sciences degree from the University of Cincinnati.

Wolfson Children’s Hospital Christmas in July Toy and Donation DriveEmployees are invited to join in collecting new unwrapped toys from now until July 25 for patients of Wolfson Children’s Hospital. A gift list of items needed is available, and you can also make a secure donation online.

We also will accept check donations at the drop-off locations. Financial contributions are as critical as toy donations since funds can be used to purchase developmentally appropriate toys for special-needs children, as well as age-appropriate items for infants and teens.
