    WHO ARE WE?

Global Missionary Ministries has its historicalroots with the Toronto-based TCM mission of the1950's and was established as a separate organization in 1976. Today it is an independent Christianmission incorporated as a charitable organizationboth in Canada and the USA. Its primary activitiestake place in Central and Eastern Europe (particularly in the countries of Poland, Belarus, Ukraine andLithuania). The reason for our existence is to "present the unchanging message of Christ to a changingworld."

In the early days of our history, when communismmaintained a strong grip on Central and EasternEurope, radio was our main tool for evangelistic outreach. It was during this time that John K. Huk(1907-1987), a Belarusian-born preacher, pioneeredthis work. Later it was continued with the assistanceof Charles Branum, George Repetski, GeorgeBajenski and several other dedicated Christian menand women. With great eagerness they strove totake Christ's Gospel to all who were deprived theprivilege of hearing it. During this period we wereknown as Global Missionary Radio Ministries.

Following the collapse of communism in the late1980's we established closer working ties with thebelievers who lived in this part of the world. In partnership with them, we were able to teach and assistin developing different approaches to Christian ministries. Thus, a cassette ministry was added toGMM's radio ministry. For program preparation webegan using local believers and we started broadcasting over local stations. In Poland we assisted inestablishing a private radio station from which wehave unlimited access to broadcast Christian programs.

Another important aspect to our outreach inEurope is the camp ministry. Working with localbelievers, we organize camps for children, youngpeople and students, and Bible conferences foradults. Thanks to an existing camp facility in the cityof Ostroda, every year over 1,000 different campersare being reached with the Gospel. Recently, wehave extended a similar outreach to children andyoung people of neighboring countries such asBelarus, Ukraine and Lithuania. Also, for the first timeGMM initiated a very successful camp for Jewishchildren from Eastern Europe.

We also involve ourselves in a Christian literature ministry. This includes translating, printing anddistributing literature in the Russian, Belarusian,Ukrainian and Polish languages.

Working in close association with local believers,we carry on evangelistic ministries that includepreaching and teaching, starting new churches, organizing Christian concerts, conducting Bible seminars, assisting in benevolent outreach to needy people, developing ministries for the disabled and assisting ina new Messianic work \r\ Warsaw.

All of these involvements have caused us to modify our mission's name to Global MissionaryMinistries. Presently there are 3 full-time missionarystaff working from our Mississauga, Ontario, officeand more than ten national coworkers in Europe withwhom we maintain a regular working relationship.

  • WORDS OF GRATITUTE FROM OUR COWORKERS

    From the northwest-

our people as they listento the message of Christ. There are about 50,000 listeners in our area. God's blessings are due to thefact that we do not preach some kind of rituals, butChrist as the crucified, risen and coming Savior.Because of this, the city and regional authorities willingly open their doors to us to come into their educational institutions and student residences with themessage of Jesus Christ. In 1997 we regularly visitedour radio listeners in the city and surroundingregions, and over 50 times we conducted evangelistic services. Praise God! We ask you to continuepraying for us and support us in this evangelisticeffort. God says through one of his prophets: 'Do notbe silent!'"

many of their parents areattending our services, we know that this is the resultof your service.

After camp a teacher from the school recentlyasked me: 'What have you done with the school children? They're completely different from what theywere before.' And so, now it's much easier to tell theteachers that Jesus changes every sinner that comesto him. For the closing program of the camp we invited parents and teachers. Many came. Also, a groupof students from the teacher's college. One girl in thisgroup saw how our children were repenting andasked herself the question: why do they have torepent? Are they so sinful? This question did not giveher any peace. So she started attending services, and also repented and now she is a baptized believer! As a result of the camp, over 100 children fromnon-believing families attend our Sunday school."

We thank God for those days that we couid spendtogether, for the opportunity of telling children aboutChrist. These children in turn tell their parents aboutChrist, also they tell other children about him. This isthe way we evangelize our people."

'Where, O death, is yourvictory? Where, O death, is your sting?' Since the sinof Adam, death gained victory over man, but Jesusovercame the power of death through his own deathand resurrection. My grandfather died several yearsago. He did not believe in God during his lifetimebecause he was a communist. It was very sad to seehim dying, which for him was a passing into nothingness. Almost at the same time my mother-in-law,who was a Christian, also passed away. Of course, itwas not easy for members of the family to see hersuffering from cancer, but each night when we lefther alone we told her; 'If not tomorrow, then we'll seeyou soon in Heaven.' The assurance that we, asbelievers, will be resurrected to a new life and reunited with people dear to our hearts gives us strengthto live in the dark valleys of life."

"Tell them... Preach the Word... Ring the Bells... The story must be told."

Global Missionary Ministries is aChristian mission dedicated to the task ofspreading the Good News of Jesus Christto parts of Central and Eastern Europe. This is at the heart of our mission's statement of purpose. We believe in the validityof this message and we act upon theauthority of God's Word. We are proud tobe a part of a church movementthat believes in fulfilling God'smission. It is with joy that welook fon/vard to attending theNorth American Christian iLySConvention in St. Louis which iltilfflwill reiterate this year the chal- ^lenging theme of "Tell them..."

This convention coinciden- ^fljntally brings to our memory the kfljjjjjLyear of 1964 when George |l|i^MBajenski, being a student at *1Lincoln Christian College, attended his first NACC in St. .Louis. The theme of that con-vention was "Preach the Word."George was asked to sing atthe opening session of the convention. Hegave his rendition of the well-known song,"Ring the Bells." He changed the wordsslightly by singing "Preach the Word, let thewhole world know." This song was sungseveral times during the 1964 conventionand, thus, became the theme of our ministry. When George returned to his homeland, his work here in North America was

known as "Ring the Bells-Polish Mission."Now, 34 years later, following many

changes in our personal lives and manychanges that daily take place in this world,we are returning to St. Louis. And what dowe see? The fact that the message has notchanged! Some words might have changedslightly, but the urgency to speak forth God's Word has increased. "For

there is no other name underheaven given to men by whichwe must be saved" (Acts 4:12).The bells keep ringing: Tell

... - nor them before it is eternally toolate. Tell them that "God soloved the world that He gaveHis one and only Son" (John

V 3:16). Tell them that Jesus isV coming soon. Yes, the story

: ^ must be told, and we have beengiven this responsibility.

M ^ happy to inform youthat Vera and George Bajenskiwill be in St. Louis this year forthe North American Christian

Convention representing Global MissionaryMinistries. They will be very happy to meetsome of their "old" friends and make somenew ones. They will be glad to share whatGod is doing in our lives and GMM's ministry in Poland, Ukraine, Belarus andLithuania.

  • "Remember Your Creator"

In the past all forms of organized churchwork with children and young people Incommunist countries was not permitted. Sowhen new freedoms arrived, we were challenged by many requests from our partnersin Central and East Europe. We welcomedthese greater opportunities for work amongyoung people In the post-communist world, for we firmly believe that the Bible hassomething to offer for all of our humanneeds. A wise man in the Bible, KingSolomon, stated: "Remember your CreatorIn the days of your youth before the days oftrouble come" (Ecc. 12;1).

But how can they remember or knowHim unless we will tell them? There arethousands of parents whom we know thatare living in that part of the world who donot know God because, when they wereyoung, they lived in an atheistic state whereGod and religion had no official part. Now,however, they want their children to have abetter life and future. They like to sendthem to Sunday school, vacation Bibleschool or camp. But where? This is a littleknown fact here in North America thatchurches in some of these post-communistlands have long lists of children who desireto attend church youth activities but cannot. There is not enough space for them andoften times a shortage of teachers. We donot want this to happen in any place whereGMM is Involved. We want to accept andteach the "Way of the Lord" to all childrenwho might be within our reach.

We believe the teaching of the Bible istrue, namely, that we need to "train a childin the way he should go, and when he isold, he will not turn from it" (Prov. 22:6). In

previous seasons we have seen thousandsof children and young people come to ourcamps and different youth meetings.Hundreds of them committed their lives tothe Lord. It must have been pleasing to Godto hear their sincere prayers and listen totheir harmonious singing: "O Lord, our God,how majestic Is Your name in all the earth. You have set your glory above the heavens. From the lips of children and infants Youhave ordained praise" (Ps. 8:1-2).

With this in mind we have plannedanother full schedule of summer activities. Our partners have been diligently workingto lay the groundwork, and now it is our turnto respond to their needs. However, we cansee that we will need much help to keep up

with our commitments. During the monthsof June, July and August we will need anadditional $15,000 to keep our summeryouth ministry in Central and EasternEurope in operation.

Let me describe some of our scheduledinvolvements. As you read these words wehave In the Ostr6da Camp a large group ofJewish children that come to us fromRussia and Ukraine for three weeks of spiritual and physical enrichment. This is thesecond time in our mission's history that wehave been able to minister to Jewish children. This is possible because of the diligent work of our Polish partner, KazikBarczuk, Pray with us for wisdom to begiven to our teachers. Pray that many children will recognize who their Saviour andtrue Messiah is.

  • Immediately after this we will have twoweeks of junior camp for Polish children. This camp Is usually overflowing with children. Our prayer is that God will provide uswith effective teachers, parents and staffmembers who will attend to all the physicaland spiritual needs of these children.

Following this group there will be twoweeks of junior-high camp. This will includemostly Polish girls and boys. However, wehave already been asked whether aBelarusian group of young people cancome. We are willing to accept them but weknow that finances will determine theircoming. In other words, GMM will have topay their traveling and living expenses atthe Ostroda Camp. This camp will providean additional attraction in that a group ofAmerican students will come and teachthem to play baseball.

Then we will have three weeks of campfor high school and college youth. Thesecamps are known for their Bible teachingand basketball. These are usually veryactive and challenging weeks of camp.During this camp there will be plenty of foodboth for body and soul. To make it evenmore interesting there will be professionalhelp from American youth including a basketball coach from Kentucky's LouisvilleSoutheast Christian Church. We would askyou to pray for the young people as theyplay and as they pray, so that they will bealert and many of them will open theirhearts to the Lord.

There are also plans for a Singles'camp, a family camp, even a "Golden Age"camp for campers in their fifties. During thelast week of August the Annual ChurchConference will be facilitated at OstrodaCamp Christian.

In addition to all of our programs inOstroda, we are also committed to assist insimilar camp activities and vacation Bibleschool programs in cities such as: Lutsk,Ukraine; Kobryn, Belarus; and in Solech-

niki, Lithuania. In these places we conducted similar programs with our partners in thepast. Now local believers are continuing ontheir own. However, they strongly dependon our financial help and encouragement.

Thus, another full summer schedule isbefore us. We would ask you, our friendsand partners, to remember us and this ministry in your prayers. Somebody stated that"the more prayer, the more power from onhigh." Dear friends, we depend on theseprayers.

Traditionally it has been our experiencethat during the summer months missiongiving is very low, but we would like to seeit not happen this summer. We are presenting these needs to the Lord and pray thatHe will answer. Knowing that God respondsto the need of the hour through his people,we ask you to consider the possibility ofassisting us through prayers and financialundergirding. You are the only channel ofblessings that we have in this ministry. Wewould kindly ask you to send us your special contribution for this summer's children'sministries. During the next three months, aswe have previously stated, we will need anadditional $15, 000. For the support of onechild at camp this year we need $10 perday. Many local campers will pay their feesin full, but we will have to supplement feesfor others who cannot afford to pay forthemselves. Still others, including thosecoming from Eastern Europe, will have tobe fully financied by GMM.

The Gospel Continues to be Preached

Every time that I travel and minister inthe countries in which GMM works I comeaway grateful to the Lord that, in spite of difficulties that our people face, the Gospelcontinues to be preached. This is visible invarious forms of ministry. I would like to tellyou about some of them, as I observedthem.

Ministry to Jewish CommunitiesOne example of this is an outreach min

istry to the Jewish community in Polandand countries of the former Soviet Union. Iwas present at two Shabbots that tookplace in Warsaw. One was a special time asChristian Jews from various parts of Polandcame together to celebrate. The Fridayevening meeting is the beginning of Shab-bot. It is a time of gathering for a meal andfellowship with Scripture reading and prayers. The Lord has used Kazik and Dorothy, our coworkers, to begin this outreach to thesecular Jewish community in Warsaw.Kazik's efforts have been noticed by theleaders of Jewish organizations in Poland. Some Jews from these organizations havebegun to attend and they hear the messageof Jesus being their Messiah. Already thereare those that have come to believe and receive Jesus as their true Messiah, Saviourand Lord.

Others come for the fellowship, althoughthey are not believers. We believe that theLord will change their hearts and become

real to them as the light of the Christ'sGospel penetrates their hearts. The factthat secular Jews are even coming out to aChristian Jewish outreach is reasonenough for wonder. Following Friday'sShabbot, on the 18th of May the ChristianFellowship Church in Warsaw conducted aspecial Saturday evening service toremember and commemorate two uniqueevents: the 55th year since the JewishGhetto Uprising in Warsaw against theNazis and the 50th year since the creationof Israel as a state. Dignitaries from theJewish community in Warsaw and Israelwere present. The fact that non-ChristianJews would come to a Christian gatheringin honour of events significant to the Jewishpeople speaks of the impact that Kazik andhis coworkers are having. During June ourOstroda Camp hosted a special camp forJewish children from Poland, Ukraine,Belarus and Russia. Please continue to

The Gospel Through MusicMy next stop was in Moscow, Russia.

Yevgeny is a young man that heads up aChristian mission called Logos, which isdedicated to spreading the Gospel message through the medium of music. Wehave asked this mission to assist us inreprinting John K. Huk's songbook, Hymnsof Victory. Our friends in Moscow have graciously consented to do that. Already theywrote some of the music score and wordson computer. The book will contain 300pages and will Include songs that BrotherHuk translated into Russian during his lifetime. There will also be some new songsthat today's Christians are singing inRussia. It is hoped that the book will be outby the end of this year.

I had the wonderful privilege of beingpresent at a church where Logos' choir andorchestra presented an Easter cantata. What an uplifting experience to hear theEaster story being played and sung byaccomplished musicians. Logos missionuses the medium of sacred concerts as atool of evangelism. People in Russia arenot generally coming in great numbers tospecial evangelistic meetings, as before, but they gladly come to hear a sacred concert by an accomplished choir and musi-

    Youth choir in Moscow church

clans. This Is followed by an evangelisticmessage.

Preaching in Churches in BelarusThe Lord gave me another opportunity

to preach in several churches throughoutBelarus. At this point I was joined by afriend, John Rekart, a member of one of oursupporting congregations in Beaverton,Oregon. Together we visited several congregations to obsen/e their ministries andlearn of their progress and needs. In twocongregations the Lord opened the door toa children's ministry for next year. We laidplans with the local leaders of the"Jerusalem" Church in Minsk and "Bethany"Church in Kobryn to have a team of children's workers come from America to helpout in conducting a Daily Vacation BibleSchool. We look fonward to this venturewith great anticipation and will be doingpreparatory work for it.

The Gospel is being preached in manyplaces throughout Belarus. In talking withsome Christian leaders we learned that theOrthodox Church receives preferentialtreatment from the government of Belarus. This makes it more difficult for all Protestantgroups. Nevertheless, in spite of such difficulties, churches continue to preach theGospel. There are new church buildings

  • Bethany Church expansion

throughout the country. Some congregations are putting up new buildings and donot have the financial resources that we areused to. Yet, progress in construction continues. Those church building projects thatwere approved in the past are continuing. On the other hand, it is becoming increasingly difficult for new congregations to register and seek out an appropriate place ofworship. In some places throughout thecountry it is easier to evangelize than inothers. It all depends on local officials.

One congregation that GMM supports is"Bethany" Church in Kobryn. Brother Vladimir gives leadership to this church. The believers there have completed their firstbuilding that will serve as a Christian education facility in the future, although at thepresent time it serves as the main churchbuilding. Right next to it the local believerscontinue to build their "house of prayer"(church edifice). John and I were present tosee how the bricklayers continue to lay onebrick on top of the other. The time is comingwhen this building will be finished. Moreimportantly, with each passing year newpeople are finding Christ in this church andbeing baptized. Soon their present buildingwill prove inadequate to house all that willbe coming to the sen/ices. The church islocated on the southern side of the citywhere there is a whole new area of privatehomes and apartment buildings. Pray that

the believers will be used of God to bringtheir neighbours to the Lord.

Literature MinistryI was able to meet with Brother Vladimir

K., a well known lay preacher in Minsk, whoin the past preached a series of instructivemessages on the 11th chapter of Hebrews, the "faith chapter." He later compiled a bookfrom his sermons in the Russian language. In view of the fact that there are very fewgood evangelical Christian books inBelarusian, we were given permission bythe author to translate his work intoBelarusian. The translation has now beencompleted and we are now checking itthrough for the final time. Some of the corrected final copy was left in Minsk, whichwill eventually be part of the whole book.We hope to print this book sometime nextyear. This book will be call many peoplewho love and use the Belarusian languageto consider their need to have true Biblicalfaith and to follow the examples of theheroes of the faith that are mentioned inHebrews chapter 11.

Ctiurch in Salchininkai, LithuaniaOur final stop was in Salchininkai,

Lithuania. This is close to the Lithuanian-Belarusian border. Our good friend, Viktor, labours in this city where Catholicism predominates. Only a small group of peoplegather to praise the Lord in the local Bela-

rusian Centre, a facility that the congregation rents. Some of you will remember thatlast year GMM and some of their friendsfrom the USA and Poland conducted a children's camp. Viktor told us that those samechildren see him on the streets of Salchinin-kai and tell him how much they enjoyedtheir time with us. Already the seed of theGospel has been planted in their hearts. But the parents do not want others to seetheir children attend a congregation ofBible-believing Christians. Please pray thatthe Lord will continue to use Viktor and hisfamily in reaching out to this needy community. In June they were planning a 3-dayevangelistic tent meeting outreach. Wethank the Lord that they were able to purchase prime property for a church buildingin the center of the city, but many thingsneed to be worked out before a house ofworship will be put up. Do remember thisneed also. George Repetski

    Family Wedding

Tim Repetski, son of George and LucilleRepetski, and Melissa Peron, daughter ofTony and Brigitte Peron, were married inToronto on the 4th of July. Many guestsfrom far and near came, including relatives. It was a most memorable occasion as weall asked the Lord to bless their union inmatrimony. The day was beautiful and sowas the wedding ceremony and time of fellowship that followed. Our prayers go withthe young couple for God's continuedblessings in their new life together.

    BE READY

In a previous issue of 'The Crier" weshared with you that our Christian camp inPoland was in urgent need of a dishwasher. Today we are happy to inform you thatwe were able to purchase and install thisneeded appliance in time for a busy summer schedule at our Ostroda CampChristian. Please accept sincere thanksfrom the camp's administration and from uspersonally for praying and helping us financially in order that this project could be successfully completed.

In this Issue of 'The Crier" you will see apictorial oven/iew of some of our missionactivities conducted this summer in Polandand Ukraine. However, before this presentation I would like to describe one day atcamp and share with you a short reflectionfrom Scripture that it brought to my mind.

It was late in July. Ostr6da Camp was infull operation. During this particular weekwe had a large group of teenage campers. The day started out as usual with musicand a friendly wake-up call over the loudspeaker system. Then it was quiet time, devotions, breakfast and all morning activities were to follow. All of a sudden wenoticed several cars pulling up with unexpected visitors in them! They were thepolice, a fire department inspector, publicutility and sanitation department representatives and an official from the EducationDepartment. All had come at one time toInspect the camp ground facilities. They

had the authority to close down the camp Ifany problems were found with any of thefacilities or property. But we thank God thateverything was in ordereven our kitchenhad a new look because of some newequipment and the newly installed dishwasher. Friends, thank you for making eventhis possible! We continued our camp program and with deep relief we praised God.Nevertheless, a thought came to mind. What would have happened if we were notready for this unexpected inspection?

  • Friends, we all know quite well that Jesusis returning some day. He is the rightfulowner of this universe. He created it all. InMark 13:34-37 He presents Himself as aman taking a far journey, who left His houseand gave authority to His servants. To everyman He gave his particular work to do andcommanded the porter to watch: "Watch yetherefore, for ye know not when the Master ofthe house cometh..." Yes, we are the ones towhom He has committed His property. Ourtime, our talents and possessionsall areHis. We are His stewards. Are we ready forthe great day of account-giving before ourMaster?

    '98 SUMMER CAMPS AND

    EVANGELISTIC OUTREACH IN POLAND

    AND UKRAINE

In our "old" church hymnal one can findthe familiar Gospel song, "Give of Your Bestto the Master." He truly desen/es it...in everystage of our lives. God really loves us andhow beautiful when we can give Him theprime days of our lives! This is why GMMdevotes much of its time working with children and young people in Poland, Ukraine,Belarus and Lithuania.

Once again during this year the Ostr6da

Camp property served as a playground, school and church for over a thousand people of various ages, languages and differentcultural groups of Central Europe.

During the first three weeks of June wehosted a group of Jewish children that cameto Poland from Ukraine, Belarus and Russia. We were able to study the Bible with them, sing, even dance with them praising God forsuch a joyous time together.

As soon as the Polish school system dismissed our children for summer vacation.Ostr6da was filled with Polish children.During two weeks of Junior Camp we had agroup of 12 visiting children from Lithuania. They came from a similar camp we con-

We then hosteda large group of intermediates together with10 such visitors from Belarus and a group offriendly American students from a CaliforniaBible college They attempted to teach ourcampers the game of American softball! All ofthis was surrounded by solid Bible teaching, resulting in many decisions to follow Christ.

The next 3 weeks belonged to the highschool and college-age students. They were

challenged with Bible messages and thesport of basketball under the guidance ofcoaches from Indiana and the LouisvilleSoutheast Christian Church. There weremany cuts and bruises, but also many brokenhearts for Jesus!

During the month of July we were alsoinvolved in a church camp near Lutsk,Ukraine. Three years ago we introduced thischurch to an organized youth camp ministryand now, praise the Lord, they themselvescontinue this type of work. We continue toassist them in their outreach to poor childrenfrom a local orphanage and children's home.

Later in August we were involved in a family camp, a church and youth conference andan adult-age carnp at Ostroda. This wholesummer's camp ministry in Europe proved tobe both beautiful and very fruitful.

  • MISSIO MUSICAEVANGELISTIC OUTREACH

What is "Missio Musica?" This is an association of Christian professional musiciansand singers in Poland. Most of them areyoung people, still students at music academies. Some are members of our WarsawChristian Fellowship Church, others live andstudy in various Polish cities. They belong todifferent Christian and evangelical churches. Two things that keep them together is thatthey love the Lord and they love to use theirmusical talents for God's glory. They playand sing at church meetings, conduct concerts and take an active part in various evangelistic meetings. GMM has worked withthem previously for meetings in Poland,Lithuania and Belarus. This year we spent awonderful 16 days together in northwesternUkraine, singing and witnessing about ourLord. During this time we conducted 24meetings in church buildings, clubs, culturalcenters, on streets, in parks and even at onetourist resort center. Thousands heard the

  • For me somehow this beautifulsong, "Ring the Bells, Let the

Whole World Know," continues to be aconstant reminder that our mission isnot yet finished. There are still manywho need to know the full story of howGod, through Bethlehem and Calvary,is reaching down with His redemptiveplan, bringing us the lost privilege ofsharing heaven's glory with Him.

May God help us to recall this beautiful story and to communicate It during

    m RINGING 0UT1

Dto send messages far and wide acrosschurch on Sundays, church bells were rung t(as victory in war or the birth of a king. In ourstill ring out from many church steeples to tkings.

Likewise, we at GMM join the countless nubirth. We wish for all of you, our friends and pcpeace from the Lord as you celebrate Christ'ihope as we also anticipate His soon return!

this Season with loud and clear voices,as the bells ring out this good news.

We thank God that throughout theyear of 1998 He kept us mostly in goodhealth and busy witnessing for Him bothhere at home in Canada and the UnitedStates, and in Central Europe whereour mission efforts are concentrated.

We just recently returned fromEurope with many good reports of howGod is blessing and multiplying ourefforts in this part of the world.

To God be the glory, and to all of youwho have remembered us throughoutthis year we would like to say "thankyou." Also, Vera and I bring you mostrecent greetings from many friends inPoland, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania andthe Czech Republic. Merry Christmas toall of you!

  • HE MESSAGE

uters or the internet, church bells were usedthe countryside. As well as calling people to) spread the news of special occasions suchdays of Advent and Christmas, church bells

^11 the good news of the birth of the King of

Tibers in ringing out the message of Christ'sirtners, that your hearts be filled with joy and5birth, i.e. His first coming, and with blessed

    urging dong! merrily on high inL/heaven the bells are ringing;

Ding dong! verily the sky is riven withangel singing: Gloria, Hosanna inexcelsis." So go the words to a wellknown carol. And it must have been aday of fantastic celebration in heavenwhen God's Son was born in Bethlehem.

Another carol reminds us that it wasthe angels who first proclaimed the majestic news to a group of unpretentiousshepherds; "Angels from the realms ofglory, wing your flight o'er all the earth; You who sang creation's story, now proclaim Messiah's birth: Come and worship Christ the new-born King."

While the first messengers to proclaim Christ's coming were angels, itwas the shepherds that passed thismessage onto others, for we read that"they spread the word concerning whathad been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed atwhat the shepherds said to them." The

privilege of passing on the message ofJesus' coming has been given to us asbelievers.

Lucille and I wish to thank you, ourfriends and partners in the Lord's work, for your prayers and support. We wishyou greatest success in your witness forJesus, peace and the Lord's joy, as youserve Him.

  • Dima, Lena and Vera's meeting in Warsaw

    LAZUTAS BACK IN BELARUS

After two years of intensive Bible studyat Regent College in Vancouver, BC,Canada, Dima and Lena Lazuta arrivedsafely in their homeland of Belarus toassume their work with the Good NewsChurch in Minsk. They will also resumetheir involvement in college student ministry.

We were happy to meet them on the lastleg of their journey on the western side ofthe new curtain that is developing betweenBelarus and the rest of the westernEuropean world. Our meeting was shortbut helpful in determing some importantmission matters with the Lazutas.

After leaving Canada they stopped overfor a few days in Germany where one oftheir good friends helped them to purchasea solid car for their needs. They drovethrough Poland, spent a night with us inWarsaw and on the following day they left

early for their last border crossing. On their way to the border they were

chased by people that they believed wereMafia. They escaped them, then it took 12hours on the border for all papers to beprocessed. Finally they arrived in Minsk at2:00 am in the morning.

The next weeks were extremely hectic asthey sought living quarters, attended Lena'ssister's wedding, went through medicaltreatment, visited their ailing grandmotherand started in their adjustment to their newchurch life. Please pray for them.
