2018 Fall Leaf Pickup Schedule

The Department of Public Services will begin their 29thyear of leaf pickup and community composting program.We encourage you to use the Compost Site for disposalof your leaves, grass, clippings and brush. As a remind-er starting November 4th, 2018 Fall Compost Sitehours will be as follows:

Monday and Thursday - 12pm to 6pmSaturday - 9am to 5pmSunday - 1pm to 5pm

DPS crews will begin picking up leaves with heavy equip-ment on October 29, 2018 following the same route asthey do with brush pick up. Please have leaves rakedneatly on the terrace area of property, DO NOT PUTLEAVES IN THE STREET. They will start North ofChicago Rd and West of N Nottawa working their wayacross the North side of town and then through the Southside. Leaf pick up will resume each day where crews leftoff the day before. The DPS will continue leaf pick up fol-lowing this schedule through the end of November asweather permits.

***NOTE***We will be picking up leaves for City of Sturgis resid-ents ONLY. If you have a 5-digit address & live in oneof the Township areas within the City you are re-sponsible for the disposal of your leaves.

Under the current composting system, we prefer that youdo not put leaves in plastic bags. If you choose to putleaves in bags please call the DPS office at 651-2879between 7:30am to 4:00pm, Monday thru Friday and letus know so we can make arrangements to pick them upas our schedule permits. Bagged leaves may be taken tothe Compost Site during scheduled hours however youmust dump the leaves from the bags, as bags are not ac-cepted at the site. The last day for the Compost Site tobe open is November 20th at 6:00pm unless the groundis covered with snow before then.
