Vedia Huckaby Newson Vedia Grace Huckaby Newson, was born Nov. 13, 1937 in Campbell County, Tenn. to William and Opal Huckaby and passed away Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012 at Williamsburg Nursing Home. She lived in Pleasant View for many years and was a member of Mountain Ash Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Sue; her par- ents; three sisters; two brothers; and two grandchildren. She is survived by four children, Winford Wilhoit and wife Teresa of Florida, Joe Wilhoit of Pleasant View, Melissa Fields and Billy of Georgia and Donna Partin and husband Randall of Jellico; 14 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; five sis- ters, Iva Lee Hambin (Herman), Bonnie Hawn, Glenna Vanover (Don), Jean Sharp and Donna Anderson (Carl), all of Williamsburg; one brother, Gary Huckaby (Lori) of Corbin; step-son, Tommy Joe Ayers of Williamsburg; and a host of other relatives and friends who mourn her passing. Ornduff, who was born and raised in Nevisdale, Ky., lived in Dayton. She was born on Oct. 24, 1927 in Whitley County, Ky. to the late Eli Smith and Eva (Anderson) Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Nesbit Shelton and Earl Ornduff; one brother, Mitchell Smith; four sisters, Viola Smith, Pearl Brittian, Mossie Smith and Linda Peace; and a great-grandson, Brandon Ramsey. Violet C. Selvy Violet C. Selvy, of Corbin, passed away on Sat., Feb. 4. 2012. She was born in Corbin, Ky. on March 11, 1930 to the late Steve and Sarah Cobb. Violet was a retired employee of Bellsouth (AT&T), beginning as a telephone operator and ending her 32 year career in the business office. She then worked for 11 years at Corbin High School as secre- tary before retiring in 1992. Many students still remember “Mrs. Selvy” fondly. She was a member of Pioneer Workers of America and a life-long member of West Corbin Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Curt Selvy; two brothers, C. L. Cobb and James Bradley Cobb; and four sisters, Iva Tompkins, Edith Tompkins, Vera Lois Tompkins and Zella Bingham. Violet is survived by her daughter, Sherry Hoskins (Fred) of Danville, Ky.; her grandson, Brad Hoskins of Lexington, Ky.; and her sister, Cleo Lloyd of Corbin. She also leaves five loving nephews, one niece and numerous dear friends, all to mourn her passing. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8 in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with her nephew Steve Bingham and Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton officiating.
