    Batang Sadong Bridge Construction

    Date 23rd April 2016, (Saturday)

    Introduction

    The Proposed Jambatan Batang Sadong, Kampung Buloh, Samarahan, Sarawak is an important project to

    complete the coastal link by road between Sebuyau and Kota Samarahan. The road from Kota Samarahan to

    Kampung Buloh in Samarahan and the road from the opposite bank of Batang Sadong through Sebangan to

    Sebuyau had been constructed. The major objectives for the implementation of the Proposed Jambatan Batang

    Sadong are:-

    - To complete the coastal link by road between Sebuyau and Kota Samarahan;

    - To reduce traveling time and to ensure an all-weather and safer mode of transportation across Batang

    Sadong;

    - To improve social-economic development of the coastal region.

    Objectives

    The objectives of this site visit are:

    1)  To enable interested members from IEM Sarawak Branch to visit and observe various operation and

    implementation of a bridge project ; and

    2 CPD / PDP (BEM Approved Hours)

    Speaker

    Briefing: Superintendent Officer (SO) - Ir Vincent Tang Chok Khing

    Ir Vincent Tang Chok Khing graduated with a BSc in Civil Engineering from the University of Manitoba,

    Canada (1982) and a Diploma holder from Winnipeg College, Canada (1978). He is a registered Professional

    Engineer (P.Eng) with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM), a member of the Institution of EngineersMalaysia (Civil) and an Ordinary Member of the Road Engineering Association of Malaysia. Presently, Ir

    Vincent is also serving as the Vice Chairman of IEM (Sarawak Branch).

    Ir Vincent professional experiences include the following:

      Since November 2011 as the Regional Manager of Southern Regional Office, JKR Sarawak  

      July 2011 to November 2011 as the Assistant Director (PDN), JKR Sarawak

      Dec 2003 to July 2011 as the Divisional Engineer, JKR Sibu

      September 1991 to December 2003 JKR Sibu responsible for Road and Road Maintenance Sections ondesign, supervision and administration

      March 1988 to September 1991 JKR Kapit responsible for Road, Road Maintenance & CivilEngineering Sections on design, supervision and administration

      September 1983 to March 1988 JKR Sarikei responsible for Building & Building MaintenanceSections on design, supervision and administration
