INTRODUCTION
The process of development along with the expanding globalisation and liberalisation process has increased the number of consumer related issues.
Consumer protection has earned an important place in the political, economic and social agendas of many nations.
Consumer awareness is making consumer aware of his/her rights.
First consumer movement began at London after the second word war Consumers by definition include all citizens In India, the Government has taken many steps
including legislative, to protect consumers.
NEED FOR THE STUDY
The necessity adopting the measure to protect the interest of the consumer arise due to the helpless position of the consumers
Be quality conscious Beware of misleading advertisement Responsibility of inspect a variety of
goods before making selection Consumer must me aware about
there rights Complain for genuine grivenence
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Researcher has to proceed systematically in the already planned direction with the help of a number of step in sequence. To make the research systemized the researcher has to adopt certain methods. The methods adopted by the researcher for completing the project is called Research Methodology
RESEARCH DESIGN
A research design is an arrangement of conditions for collection and analysis of data in a manner that aims to combine relevance to the research purpose with economy in procedure.
TYPES OF RESEARCH DESIGN Exploratory Research Design
DATA USED
Primary data is used to collect the opinion, feeling and attitude of the public.
The secondary data is collected from the journals, articles, commentaries, books, periodicals, web sites & also from the Judgments of the S.C, National commission & state commission have been referred to get more information to accomplish this research.
DATA COLLECTION METHOD
A survey method has been used to collect the data.
INSTRUMENT USED:
Questionnaire has been use for the purpose of survey and questionnaire is structured one and it consists of multiple choice of question followed by dichotomous question.
PERIOD OF SURVEY The duration of the study has been for the two
months.
SAMPLING
Sampling may be defined as the selection of some part of an aggregate or totality
METHODS OF SAMPLING
In this study non probability sampling has been adopted. Under the non probability sampling convenience sampling has been taken for the purpose of study
CONVENIENCE SAMPLING
The sampling units are chosen primarily on the basis of convenience to the researcher is known as Convenience Sampling
SAMPLE SIZE
One can say that the sample must be an optimum size that it is should be neither excessively large nor too small.
OBJICTIVE & SCOPE OF THE STUDY
To know general awareness of the rights of the consumer.
To study the History & basic frame work of the CPA.
To know the extent of the Act and to protect the rights given under the Act.
To study how far present legislation helps in protection of consumer rights.
To study the role of the NGOs, Media, Governmental agencies in protection of consumers interest.
To study how many people in the city of Baroda are aware of the CPA.

findings
As compare to male it was found the woman are much more conscious about their basics rights.
Educated respondents are much more aware about their consumer rights
Government has failed to take initiative for creating consumer awareness through various mean.
People are not satisfied with their complaint Consumer Awareness regarding consumer
protection Act is higher with higher education
SUGGESTION Organizing seminars By consumer help line Organizing legal aid camps By distributing literatures, magazines etc. This should be taught from the school level as
one of their subject. By advertising through media such as
television, radio, news papers, By making web sites relating to consumer
protection act which provides for rights & duties of consumers,
By encouraging various NGO’s engaged in protecting the rights of consumers,
CONCLUSION
The provisions contained in the Consumer Protection Act are sufficient enough to prostate rights of the consumer
The approach of judiciary towards the protection of the rights of the consumers is also very positive
Awareness of the Consumer Protection Act among the people in Baroda city is very poor
