Note: Bearing contact on the left compared to the right lower flange. Lower Flange bent downward a total of .500” causing bearing

to ride on outside edge of the trolley wheels

Telematic Systems, Inc. had been commissioned by a Major Auto Manufacturer to provide an engineering study for the evaluation and consideration to add video inspection services, to future health assessment projects.

Introduction

Page 19: Automated Conveyor Inspection Services

19

On July 15th, 2007 our Conveyor C.A.M. ™ automated inspection system made two separate passes through a customers e-coat system. The Conveyor Inspection testing was done after production on the weekend. The customer had just contracted a physical health assessment prior to our findings. All video was captured and recorded at 30 fps and stored locally to our ruggedized “ConveyorCAM™ DVR 2100”. Installation and video downloading took place on the take-up platform. Removal of the system was also done at the take-up. Approximately 50 minutes of full motion video was recorded, resulting in 20GB of digital video.

Observations

Quick analysisBefore departing the Customers Assembly Plant we were able to quickly scrollthrough the inspection video and make clear cut observations on themechanical condition of the e-coat’s power rail. The system was viewed to be in fair condition. A broke hanger and other immediate hazards that could not wait were relayed to the maintenance foreman.Rail Condition / AlignmentRolled flanges and thinning sections were quick and easy to find. Thorough and further inspection of each support hanger, welds/splices, strong backs, would take place off site. Please see the following attached slide for the final result andinformation. Drives Inspection of the back-up roller nest on the take-up drive is recommended. Cat chain was not fully engaging while going through the Mid-section drive as apposed to the take-up drive.

25

On 10/26/07 Health Assessment Contractor and Don Tassic (Telematic Systems) traveled to Customer Assembly Plant for a follow-up inspection on E-coat conveyor.

The purpose of the review was to compare and comment on deficiencies noted from video inspection that were not noted during the physical inspection.

The Paint Department participated in the follow-up inspection.

Each area noted in the video were re-visited, photographed, and noted.

The following pages summarize some of the findings.
