Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Faith is a gift that enables us to persevere and
believe in God all the more firmly. While we live
in the expectation of the full and ultimate coming
of God in the future, we also live now in the
presence of God. This means that God is present
with us now as a companion in our lives.
However, until all things are brought to
fulfillment we live in this presence by faith. Faith
is the way we live when we do not see what we
think we must see, in order to go on. It is through
faith that we cling to the essence of our dreams
when they seem to be dashed before our eyes. It
is through faith that we courageously endure the
heartbreaks of life and the diminishments we all
must face.
Faith is the inner light that enables us to carry on
in the dark. In faith, we put our trust in God and
then carry out our responsibilities. We need to
take responsibility for every action and reaction
that we choose to make, trusting that we, like
Sarah and Abraham, are being faithful to God in
all that we do and say.
Today's Gospel tells us that God will come
unexpectedly. This suddenness will take us by
surprise and can even be fearful. However,
through faith we hope in God's kindness and are
confident that God will lead us through death to a
fulfillment of our hopes beyond all expectation.
May we always lift one another up in prayer.
God Bless you all.
Fr. Steve
Let us join with Bishop Vasquez’ Praying
That in prayer we allow ourselves time to ask God’s desire, to seek God’s presence and that the gates of God’s Kingdom may be open in our hearts.

Ethics and Integrity in Ministry
Screening of Those Who Work or Serve in Ministry with Minors or Vulnerable Adults
Additional screening procedures, such as reference checks and face-to-face interviews, are required for all candidates for employment and are recommended for new volunteer applicants.
Church personnel may transfer their EIM account from one parish or school within the Diocese to another within the Diocese and should update their EIM account in the eApps database to reflect their site change and any other information that has changed.
Applicants who are new to the parish or school community (less than 6 months) must be fully EIM compliant (approved background check result and current workshop date) prior to beginning any volunteer work or service in ministry with a minor or vulnerable adult and may not transport minors for first six months of service.
Background checks are automatically repeated every three years through the eApps system. No action is required by the applicant to facilitate this process. Parish, school, and organization EIM site administrators verify the continued ministry status of individuals at each site prior to rechecks.
Information provided in the bulletin is meant to be an overview of why and how the EIM program is in place. Full details are available on the diocesan website at austindiocese.org. Watch the bulletin and website regarding upcoming EIM training dates in our area.
