    SUBJECT:

    MEMORANDUM

Personnel Committee of Council Martha A. Baker, President of Council July 23, 2015 SALARIES FOR ELECTED POSITIONS

The salaries for the elected positions of Council and President of Council were last adjusted effective January 1, 2007. The salaries for the elected positions of Mayor, Auditor and Director of Law were last adjusted effective 201 1. The salary for the elected position of Treasurer was last adjusted effective 2009. The current salaries are as follows:

Mayor Auditor Director of Law President of Council Members of Council Treasurer

    $21,519 $55,341 $55,341 $ 8,195.45 $ 7,649.09 $ 4,917.27

Salaries for elected positions cannot be adjusted to be effective during a current term of office. New terms for the positions of Mayor, Auditor, Director of Law, President of Council and Members of Council will commence January 1, 201 6. Thus, if there is to be an adjustment to the salaries for those elected officials, that must be done prior to the new term beginning (January 1, 2016).

It is suggested that Council consider the increases listed in the attached spreadsheet. The proposed salaries are based on prior increases given to employees from 2012-2015.

As the four-year term of the position of Treasurer runs through 2017, any adjustment for that positon cannot be effective until 2018.

So that this matter can be discussed, it is asked that the Personnel Committee establish a committee meeting.
