I received a lovely email congratulating one of our students Bailey P. The email was from the Assistant Principal of Sawtell PS who was the convenor of the North Coast AFL team. He said “Bailey was an outstanding representative for your school, always competing at a high level and with great sportsmanship. As a coach I was impressed with his ability to follow instructions and ask for advice on how to improve his role within the team. He is a credit to your school, his family and himself”. How good is that? Well done Bailey!

What makes a good book?

Books with vivid imagery, exciting stories and strong characters will not only entertain your child but set them up to enjoy reading for the rest of their life. Find out more: http://www.schoolatoz.nsw.edu.au/zh/homework-and-study/english/my-book-club/what-makes-a-good-book-for-young-kids

Netball News

Last Tuesday, our girls’ netball team participated in the PSSA knockout gala day at Port Macquarie indoor stadium. Five schools from the Hastings/Camden Haven district attended. Wauchope played two games, the first was against Port Primary which we won 27-10; the second was against North Haven PS which we won narrowly 21-17. This meant we were the overall winners on the day and we now go on to the fourth round of the PSSA netball knockout against one of the Macleay area schools. Well done girls and thank you to all the parents who came to watch and cheer the girls on.

K-2 Disco – Thursday 27 June, 2013

The K-2 teachers are holding a Disco for children in Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 with the support of our P & C. It will be held in the new school hall. The disco will start at 4:30pm and finish at 5:45pm. The cost for this activity is $5.00 per child and includes a packet of chips and a drink. All money raised will go back into purchasing resources for your child’s classroom. Children will need to be escorted to and from the Disco by a supervising adult. So, get their dancing shoes out and send them along for a great time!!

Woolworths Earn & Learn program

As you know, our school has been participating in the Woolworths Earn & Learn program. The program has now finished for this year, so a big thanks to everyone who supported our school. We’re now at the important stage of the program where Points Sheets are collected and lodged as our Earn & Learn claim. We will then be able

to get new educational equipment for our school. The more we collect, the more we can redeem. So this week please send in your Woolworths Earn & Learn Points Sheets and any loose Earn & Learn Points Stickers you may have. Remember to check your handbag, the car glove box or they maybe stuck on the fridge. Every little bit helps. Thanks again for all your support!

School Environment Team

The WPS ‘Ground Crew’ are a group of nine very hard working and extremely dedicated Year 6 boys. Every Friday, for the past five months the boys work up a sweat and get their hands dirty beautifying our school grounds. The garden along the front of our school shows their great handy work. Recently, WPS received a generous donation of a truckload of mulch from Jeff Roberts of ‘Mid North Coast Tree Services’. Thanks Jeff, the school is going to look even better as the Ground Crew continue their work.
