If you wanted fresh butter while out on the trail in a covered wagon, a little secret was to put cream into a bucket and tie it down in the back of the wagon. The wagon’s bouncing churned, or forcefully stirred, the cream into butter!You will need: • Jar with lid • Heavy cream

Pour the cream into the jar, filling it half-way. Screw the lid on tight. Shake jar for 5–7 minutes. Remove the solid from the jar—it’s delicious homemade butter!
