Western Athletics Last Friday saw 24 students from Cudgegong Valley Public School head to Dubbo for the Western Athletics Carnival. Many of our students competed well with a number of them achieving personal bests on the day. Congratulations to the Junior Girls Relay team who set a new Western Record (0.3 seconds faster than the previous record that was set by CVPS 2015). This team of Georgina Stanley, Bessie Nicholson, Sarah Darker and Matilda Cooper put in a lot of work preparing for Western, training twice a week for the last 2 months with Kim Stanley and Alesha Bennetts. Their hard work paid off on Friday with their fast change-overs setting them up for success. Id also like to acknowledge and thank Laura Adam, who trained as a reserve for the last 3 weeks. The commitment the girls made to each other over the last 2 months is commendable. Their goal was to make it to state and break the previous record and they achieved their goal! Bailey Fehon was also successful making it through to State in the 10 years 100m and Junior 200m and Byron Rosier has made it through for the 8 Yrs 100m. Congratulations on a wonderful achievement for both of these boys! NAPLAN results Last week the school received access to our 2019 NAPLAN results. If you would like to hear more about how we performed as a school I will be giving a detailed report at this Thursdays P&C meeting. We are expecting the individual student reports to arrive sometime this week. Once they have arrived we will be sending these home to the families of our Years 3 & 5 students. A fond farewell for two of our team It is with great sadness that I wish to inform our school community that at the end of this term we say farewell to our Deputy Principal, Mrs Wendy Hogben. Mrs Hogben has been an integral member of our teaching team here at Cudgegong Valley Public School for the past seven years. It wasn't long after arriving at Cudgegong Valley that she joined the Leadership team. For the past 18 months she has been an outstanding support for me as I took over the role of principal and I would like to acknowledge her and thank her for this. I know that each and every member of our school community will join me in wishing her all the very best as she moves into retirement. Please find the time over the next week or so to share your thanks with Mrs Hogben for being such a wonderful asset to our school. Next term, while we go through the recruitment process to fill the Deputy Principal role, Mr Wilson will again relieve as Deputy Principal and we welcome Miss Jo Kenny back to teach 1W. Mrs Blamire will again relieve as Assistant Principal for Stage One for the remainder of the year. We will also be saying goodbye to Mrs Lea Roberts at the end of the term as she too enters into the realm of semi-retirement. Mrs Roberts has been a member of our support staff since the closing of Windeyer Public School in 2013 when she joined us as a School Learning Support Officer. Over the past 12 months, she has been an integral member of our Front Office Team and we will miss her greatly. Have Your Say on Before and After School Care The NSW Government is committed to providing before and after school care to all students of public primary schools in New South Wales. As part of the reform, a parent web form https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/basc has been established by Service NSW that will enable parents to tell the department about their specific care needs and to stay up to date with any new developments.

Remember Trash Free Tuesday is on every Tuesday at CVPS. We encourage students to bring a waste free lunch box to reduce

the amount of waste in our school.

The information provided by parents will help the Department of Education to understand your needs, give them insights into where there are gaps in service delivery and help to ensure the extra places are delivered where they are required. Have your say today at https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/basc. P&C Meeting This Thursday evening at 7 o'clock is the September P&C Meeting. All parents and carers are welcome to join this meeting.
