As I have indicated before the rules of the car park are the same whether it be the afternoon or the morning. Cars are not permitted to double-park to allow children out of the vehicle. Our school car park is NOT a ‘Kiss and Drop’ zone. It is not safe for children to leave vehicles if the car is not parked in a parking space. Supervision of the Parent Car Park of an afternoon cannot also occur in the morning as this is a time when important staff meetings are happening. Please remember that it is not part of the duties of the staff at Beverly Hills P.S. to supervise the car park. The executive staff (Assistant Principals and Deputy Principal) do this duty of an afternoon to assist with the children leaving the school grounds safely. We are relying on the support of parents to follow the car park rules in the morning as well as the afternoon. I have included these car park rules again so people can respect the expectations of the school and make our environment a safe one for our children. National Consistent Collection of Data: School Students with Disability (NCCD) The National Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability is an annual collection of data on the number of school students receiving an adjustment to access education due to disability. This information will focus attention on the individual adjustments required to support students with disability ensuring students effectively participate in learning on the same basis as other students. The collection of data strengthens communication between all stakeholders and enables the school an opportunity to review our learning and support systems and processes to continually improve education outcomes for all students. AthleticsCarnivalTuesdayJune18wasagreatdayforourAthleticsCarnival.Allchildrenparticipatedenthusiasticallyandwithgreateffort.AspecialthankyoutoMrsAustinandMissLonerganfortheirfantasticorganisationontheday.ThankyoualsotothestaffthatmanagedtheeventssoadeptlyandthankyoutothestaffofDancefeverMultisportwhodidagreatjobsupportingtherunningoftheday.Weoftenspeakhighlyofthebehaviourandattitudeofourchildrenhoweveritisfantastictoreceivesuchfeedbackfrompeoplewhohavenoassociationwiththeschool.Theladiesinthecanteensungthepraisesofourchildrenfortheirpolitenessandtherespecttheydisplayedthroughouttheday.

BandfestOurPerformingbandattended'Bandfest'onMonday24June.Theyplayed3songsandwereawardedaGoldtrophyfortheirperformance.MrsAustinandMrsStonewereveryproudoftheirbehaviourandperformance.

PeerSupportWeek9Thisweekwefurtherdeveloptherangeofstrategieswecanuseinchallengingsituations.Thissessionfocusesonstep3ofthemodel,Proceed.Inordertolearnfromsituationsandmoveforwardchildrenneedtogobeyondthinkingof strategiesandaction them.Children recognisedespite theuseofa rangeof strategies, sometimes theycannotchangethesituation.Atthesetimes,itisimportanttoacceptthesituationandmoveforwardwithapositiveoutlook.Encourageyourchildtofollowthroughwithstrategiestheyhavediscussedandplannedtouse. It is importanttothenhelpthemevaluateifthishasworkedoriftheyneedtotryadifferentstrategy.

CodingClubTheCodingClubwerefortunatetohaveMrMoollan(fatherofTariqandIssac)makeapresentationaboutHTML.Heexplainedtothegroupof25studentsthatHTMListhehiddencodethathelpsuscommunicatewithothersontheWorldWideWeb.MrMoollandemonstratedhowtousebasicHTMLcodeandstudentswerekeentoapplywhattheyhadlearnt.Towardstheendofthesession,studentswereamazedwithwhattheyhadcreatedandwantedtolearnmore.MrMoollanendedthesessionbyexplainingtheimportanceofcodeforourfuture.

Stage2NewsStage2havebeencontinuingourScienceunit“SmoothMoves”byexperimentingwithdifferentforces.Wemaderampsfortoycars,usingourknowledgeofforcestotryandmakeourcarstravelthefurthest.Studentsthenputtheirforcesunderstandingtothetest,makingthemarbletravelfromthetopleftcornertothebottomrightcornerofapieceofcardboard,tryingtomakethemarbleslowdownandtakeaslongaspossible.Studentsenjoyedthechallengeandhadcreativesolutions,workingwellwiththeircooperativegroups.

BeverlyHillsPublicSchoolhasbeenfortunateenoughtohaveaccesstoa3DprinterthistermaspartoftheSTEMshareinitiative.Thishasprovidedopportunitiesforstudentstoengageinlearningopportunitiestopromotecreativityandproblemsolving.Asourfirstattempt,Stage2studentsenjoyedusingtheonlinedesignprogram‘Tinkercad’tocreatekeychains.Wethenusedthe3Dprintertobringthemtolife!
