Excellence and Opportunity BHPS News Issue 31 Term 4 11 October 2017 News from the Principal Welcome back to Term 4 On behalf of the school's teachers, admin staff and support staff I would like to welcome everyone back for the start of Term 4. This term we have had a number of new families join our school community and we extend a very warm welcome to them. Our students have already settled back into the routine of school and are focused on their learning goals. Over the next few weeks teachers will be finalising their assessments and will be preparing to write student end of year reports. This term Mrs Goodsell will be on leave for weeks 1-3 and I will be relieving as Principal during this time. Mrs Geri Kerr will be relieving as Deputy Principal Years 3-6 and Miss Bianca Howarth will be relieving as Deputy Principal K- 2. Miss Kirsty Hall will be relieving as Assistant Principal Years 1-2. Regular school attendance is important, particularly as we approach the end of the school year. Student absences should be explained within seven days from the first day of absence and can be communicated to the school through an online form which is available on the school's website. If you require information about student attendance requirements please speak to your child's class teacher. Snake Awareness As we approach the summer months snakes are becoming more mobile as they search for food and seek refuge from the heat. During the school holidays a python was sighted in the school's playground. Pythons are not dangerous. Snakes usually prefer to retreat when people are nearby and when left alone they present little or no danger. While the sighting of the snake was unusual, we have taken a number of preventative measures to ensure student safety including advising students to walk away and tell a teacher if they see a snake. Points Banners Congratulations to the following students who will receive their points banners at next week's Years K-2 assembly being held in the school hall on Monday 16 October 2017 commencing at 2.00pm. 100 Points Fin C Matilda W Megan Holland R/Principal BHPS P&C SPONSORS Thank you to Cunninghams for the Diamond Sponsorship Whole School Sponsors
