Senior Portfolio ReviewEvent planning
Working with a team, we created the theme for the annual Senior Portfolio Review attended by over 200 design professionals every year. This year’s theme was a comical recreation of vintage food advertiments labeling our guest as the “secret ingredient” to our success. A Save-the-date email, print and digital invites, website, and environmental graphics were made for the event.

Skullcandy Best Buddies PackagingPackage design
Following the fame of paper craf t and graf f i t i, I created four characters to personify the dif ferent ear bud colors offered by the line, and bring attitude to a brand that is heavily influenced by street culture. The way the ear buds protrude from the side of the box not only advertises the product, but also creates the illusion that the character is wearing them.

White Pine Trail / Trail PalsBranding, educational device
The Trail Pals are a group of native Michigan animals that were created to help connect children with the White Pine Trail and to get them excited about the outdoors. They appear in maps, on their own website, and in a variety of other applications for the trail to create a learning environment for kids, and a way to actively engage them with the trail.

These environemtal pieces were made with natural matterials in order not to distract from the scenery.

President’s Holiday CardEvent planning
Ferris State University has been called home by a variety of dif ferent people throughout the years. In order to reconnect with this extended family a mark was made from five birds that formed together to make a snowflake shape, symbolizing the leaving of an area, but continuing to be a par t of that community. This symbol was incorporated into a printed card, electronic experience, and the holiday party that followed.
The Symbol
To establish depth, the logo has three levels. The first level is the complete symbol that forms a snowflake. This can then be broken down into five birds that create the logo. Finally, in its complete form, the white space creates five hearts and a star.

Beyond the Stars / Star JarKeepsake and educational experience
The Star Jar contains strips of paper cut from pictures of stars taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. On the reserves side of these strips informational facts are displayed in order to teach people about the stars they observe from far away. A spiritual connection is then established as an origami star is formed from this strip of paper and placed in the jar using the instructions found in the booklet attached to the jar. This project establishes a connection between the scient i f ic aspects of stars and the spir i tual connect ions humanity has formed with them.

Sharks: Low Rez, High RiskDigital kiosk and educational experience
Global Warming is having strange effects on sharks. Where most marine life is suffering from the oceanic changes the Sharks are enjoying a brief period of new territory to explore, and interesting opportunities for expansion. The user is taken through three games to explain these phenomena with Pac-Man inspired game play and 8-bit graphics.

2nd Cycle Brand ManualRe-brand, print manual, website, and mobile app
An important part of the shop are the bike maintenance classes they hold on a regular basis, and their belief that people should take pride in what they own. To emphasize this unique quality, I built the brand in a vintage, 19th century style to call back to a time when people valued the things they owned and repaired whatever they could. The use of woodcut imagery and strong text blocks helped send a power ful message about recycling and the good that can come from maintaining and using a bike as a mode of transportation, while giving the brand a unique personality and class that one wouldn’t expect from a used bike shop.
