St. John’s Orchardwith John Smart Architects

Radical transformation of an existing Victorian convent into 4 luxury townhouses. The project attempts to reinterpret the Victorian language into a more fluid contemporary language whilst still retaining the essence of the original architectural character. The narrative of each house unfolds as a series of cloistered spaces punctuated by a series of open floor plates and double height spaces. The project tests the potential of the office model to reassert the architect as ‘master craftsman’.

Long Housewith Dan Brill Architects

RIBA South East Downland Award winner

Contemporary extension in contrast to a 1950’s detached dwelling on the outskirts of Winchester. An initial concept emerged to gut the existing house and extrude a single storey rectangular volume through the front and side of the house, projecting into the long rear garden. This timber clad form houses an entrance porch, four bedrooms to the rear, and a kitchen and diner adjacent to the living space set in the double height void of the existing house.

Refurbishment of 40 existing sports clubs nationwide, including the overhaul and development of the company’s branding in conjunction with the works. This fresh corporate image manifested itself into each specific club through reactive design development and significant client and stakeholder engagement throughout. All clubs were successfully delivered on time through careful project management of key aspects of the works including; the street facing entrance elevations, reception and circulation, as well as specialist activity areas such as freestyle weights, spinning rooms and body and mind studios.

Spotlight Youth Centrewith Astudio Architects

Appointed to deliver RIBA stage A-G information for a flagship £5million new build youth centre adjacent to Langdon Park School in Poplar as part of London Borough of Tower Hamlets’ BSF programme. The three-storey building features a full height performance space with impressive glazed roof at the centre, with music, drama and technological spaces around it. A cafe is situated at ground level facing the street elevation. The centre’s branding manifests over the building’s elevation as dots punched into the metal sheet surface, which is treated to give a reflective, dichroic appearance.

Downton Primarywith Footprint Architects

Phase 2 of an ongoing masterpan of works to improve and extend Downton CofE Primary School in Wiltshire. Following the inception and realisation of a new main entrance at the front of the school under the initial phase of works, this phase seeks to provide improved internal classroom spaces and additional flexible space in the form of an transitional external pavilion between classroom and playground. In filling the space immediately in front of a listed gabled facade the pavilion impacts lightly on its surroundings through its choice of translucent facade materials and large expanse of openable glazing.

Trestles Footbridgewith Dan Brill Architects

International competition for a new pedestrian footbridge, San Onofre State Beach, California. Taking inspiration from the way in which driftwood lies gently upon the sand, the proposal introduces a dynamic and sculptural counterpoint to the existing landscape. Traversing the cliff ridge line, the asymmetric angular forms of the footbridge echo the profile of nearby mountains. Semi-finalist, honourable mention, and winner of the People’s Choice Award.
