PERSONAL BACKGROUND

I have a very active nature and I have had a keen interest in sports for many years. I enjoyed playing rugby, captaining and taking part in rugby teams and am currently part of a five-a-side football team which plays several matches a week. I attended the University of Central Lancashire and studied Forensic Science and Criminal Investigation for a BSc degree. Parts of my course involved writing reports and producing critical analysis essays and presentations to a professional standard. I am very sociable and enjoy meeting new people and am confident either working in a team or alone. Throughout school and sixth form I was involved in drama productions. With my confidence and good sense of humour I find that interacting and entertaining people comes quite naturally to me. I achieved a Level 7 Distinction in the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art Awards (LAMDA), which is the best award possible for that level. Whilst at sixth form I was the Managing Director for a profitable Young Enterprise company. The Young Enterprise company undertook a number of business projects which resulted in good profits which we shared equally amongst the members of the business. I am a determined person and will always try my hardest to achieve what is asked of me. I have good IT and literacy skills, am a confident user of social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

PAST EXPERIENCE

Inenco Direct – August 2014-Present

I currently work as a sales agent at Inenco Direct. I am responsible for consulting with customers with regards to their current and future electricity/gas contracts. Working for Inenco Direct has given me a much greater understanding of the energy industry whilst refining my skills at selling over the phone. As an experienced member of my team it is also my duty to close many of the contracts for other agents which requires effective communication and organisational skills. I am currently at 115% of my target since starting and regularly achieve a monthly gross exceeding £25k from my own self-generated leads. I have also been given extra responsibilities such as taking team meetings and coaching other members of staff.

Commercial Power – March 2014-August 2014

I worked as a sales agent at Commercial Power. I was responsible for interacting with customers over the phone. The aim of the phone call was to generate potential leads with a view to signing the customer to an electricity and/or gas supplier. The role required myself to be confident and adaptable, have good product knowledge and the ability to sell over the phone whilst maintaining professional standards. Building good customer rapport was necessary to finalising and signing deals. Computer skills were also an essential trait, particularly the use of spreadsheets and emails.

Spirit Pub Company – September 2013-March 2014I worked as a barman in a pub which is part of the Spirit Company Pub chain. My responsibilities include serving drinks, handling cash and card transactions and maintaining a presentable bar area. Working in a busy pub as part of a small team requires me to work efficiently whilst working at a fast pace. It is important to minimise stock loss at all times and to abide by company procedures regarding service and health and safety.

TUI Travel – June 2013 to August 2013I have lived abroad in Mallorca working as a holiday representative for TUI Travel. During this time my duties included creating and presenting welcome meetings to new customers, selling excursions and making sure the customers’ holiday experience was to the highest standards. This work involved working long hours whilst maintaining a responsible and professional attitude. Dealing with different personalities for a range of reasons on a daily basis refined my communication and problem solving skills. A part of the role that I really enjoyed was managing difficult situations whilst maintaining a clear head under pressure to decide the best outcome for both the customer and TUI Travel. The job role required a lot of responsibility, examples of which include handling and banking cash transactions and being the face of TUI Travel. Some days I would be working alone in a hotel with over two thousand guests where I had to remain organised and presentable at all times. Other days I would be working as part of a team, not only within my role but also alongside others such as the Entertainment team. On these days I had to take part in games with guests and represent the hotel in the evening entertainment which required confidence. These days were so successful that the hotel named one day a week to be a team day, where the hotel staff spend the whole day building a positive rapport with the hotel guests, something which I excelled at. I was often responsible for taking customers on excursions, which involved travelling to different hotels on a coach collecting customers and successfully taking them to and from the destination. Guiding up to sixty customers of different ages needed a large amount of interpersonal skills, organisation and the ability to remember important details.
