ADT Virtual Transition DayFor your virtual lesson today, you can choose one of the following subjects and work to complete. This will give you a flavour on what you will be asked to do when you join us in Year 7.
You can choose from…
● A Food Lesson● A Textiles Lesson ● An Art Lesson
Over the next few slides there will be all of the options for you to choose from!
Have fun and we cannot wait to meet you in September!
Your virtual Food LessonFor your virtual food lesson today, you can choose from one of the following options:
1. Review how healthy your breakfast was! Explain how you could improve it to make it a healthy and well balanced
breakfast! You can draw out your breakfast idea
and label all of the ingredients that are in it.
2. Design a table place mat to help children learn about healthy food
choices. Do you know what is healthy to eat?
Can you design a well balanced diet? Do you know what foods you should
avoid eating too much of? Design a table placemat full of
information to help other children!
3. Design your own apron. When cooking it is important to wear
the correct uniform. We always wear an apron not only to protect our clothes, but also avoid getting any germs into
our food! Design an apron that you could wear
whilst cooking!
OPTION 1
Your virtual Textiles LessonIn our Textiles lesson we learn about fabric, some fabric is grown naturally and some fabric is man made. We learn about the construction of fabric too. For today’s lesson you can have a heads start on how fabric is made! Fabric is either knitted or woven together. Your school jumper and cardigan are knitted, however your school trousers and skirt are usually woven.
Activity: Paper Weaving
You will need: Coloured paper, scissors and glue.
Watch the video to see how to do some paper weaving!

OPTION 3
knowledge builderThe tasks in this document have been designed to test 3 key skills that you require for being successful in Art:
ResearchLiteracyMaking
knowledge builderYour first artist is…
Bob and Roberta Smith
Keith Haring
Jenny Holzer
Barbara Kruger
Many contemporary artists have used text with images in their artworks to help convey a message.
Bob and Roberta Smith’s work goes one step further and just uses text alone to convey often positive message.
Bob and Roberta Smith
His artworks uses the visual language of protest in order to give power to his messages.
Bob and Roberta Smith
BIG Question: how can we use art to communicate an idea?
TASKS - pt.1• Collect 6-10 images of Bob & Roberta Smith’s art and present
them on a page with the artists name as a title.• Write a paragraph analysing (picking apart) one of the artworks
you have found.
Tips
• Think about the materials the artist uses, are they different from a
protest sign that you might take on a march?
• You may present you work in your sketchbook, on paper or
digitally (ie. as a PowerPoint) if you don’t have access to a printer.
Analysing the work of an artist
When analysing an Artist’s work, you need to not only describe
their work but also share your thoughts and explain how their
work is inspirational to you.
∙ Why did you pick this artwork?
∙ What do you like/dislike about it?
∙ How has the artist used colour?
∙ What do you notice about the composition of the artwork?
∙ What techniques have been used? What medium? To what effect?
∙ How will the work inspire/influence you?
∙ How could you use the style/technique? How could you adapt it?
