“ Maximization of unexpected joy from travel ”

“ Finding the joy of spontaneous travel for solo travelers through AR application ”

What makes a trip memorable and prolongs the happiness is the unforeseen joy derived from spontaneity. Thus, our team aims to maximize the unexpected joy derived from the spontaneous travels of the recently increasing “혼행족 & 즉행족” through a game like tourguide system and

connecting the travelers based on AR.”

Concept Statement

• Adventurous and dynamic experience with immediate visual/auditory feedback : Experience given by the project should not be limited to that of simple app that navigates or guides the

way to the destination. It should provide more adventurous and dynamic experience for users, drawing

active action.

ex. Navigation can work like a game by making ‘steps’, event notice of the city ( cherry blossom festival -

floral petals / rock festival - performance of the headliner)

• Connecting people:Connect travelers who are heading to the same place at the moment through their avatars. They can

communicate firstly by the avatar and then decide to accompany (or not).

• Recording memories/experience: Automatically tracks and records the user’s travel route, so that the main users who are likely to have no

documented itinerary-since they did not plan beforehand-can easily keep the record of their journey.

The millennials who travel alone / spontaneously without a specific plan (a.k.a. 혼행족 / 즉행족)

• According to the Korea Tourism Organization, millennial generation born in 1980~2000 advance, breaking existed frame of the travel and enjoying it creatively.

• The survey by Jeju Airline during 2017 shows that 50.2% of their passengers spontaneously purchase a travel ticket without a plan. Also more than 50% answered they have experience of traveling alone; higher solo travel rate was spotted especially among the 20s and 30s, the millenials. The survey result indicate the rise in "혼행" and "즉행" among the millennial generation as traveling became more of a lifestyle than an extreme luxury.

Snapchat Easter Game

• A game by Snapchat company, for celebrating Easter

• Finding hidden eggs across the U.S. and Canada, especially in public areas like parks and coffee shops

• Markerless augmented reality (based on GPS): with this markerless ar based on GPS, the game didn’t need to plant all of those eggs into specific points in space.

• visual based AR/smart glasses

• normal-looking glasses (unlike Google glasses)

• contains touch pad with gesture, head motion trackers, camera and voice control (multilingual)

• audio-based AR glasses

• adding “audible layer of information and experiences”to the real world (instead of visual data)

• providing information according to what you are looking at

• social interaction through Bose AR glasses

e.g. reenact historical events or speeches from landmarks and statues as you visit them and share ideas with people
