Letter From Our President!NEWSLETTER
Hello Members,
The Spring Auc6on is upon us which means the year is almost complete. In the past, I remember the year ending with a sigh and a whisper but not this year. This Spring auc6on is shaping up to be huge and will put a very lively capstone on the 2013-‐2014 BOSC year, ending it with a roar!!! Right aJer the auc6on, we move right into our Bingo social which is always an exci6ng event. As President, I only have a few more events to get through before handing over the reins. Even though the year isn’t QUITE over, I can s6ll say it has been a fun and humbling experience. As with any new situa6on, there was much to be learned and new friends were made. I am really looking forward to seeing the new direc6on and goals this club will set. Military spouses are fierce so when we set our minds to something, LOOK OUT! You can only imagine what we can accomplish when we band together. I would love to see you all at the auc6on and Bingo. I also hope you would be willing to share any thoughts you
had about this year or your hopes for next year. In true Barksdale fashion, we will con6nue on with a ROAR!!!

Charity of the Month
Recipe of the Month: Strawberry Bread by: Valerie Gardner
Ingredients: !3 c. Flour 2 c. Sugar 1 t baking soda 1 t ground cinnamon 1/2 t salt 1 t vanilla 1 package 10 oz frozen strawberries, thawed (I used the ones sweetened with Splenda) 1 c. Salad oil 4 eggs, well beaten
Directions: !Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine and mix thoroughly all dry ingredients in a large bowl. In a separate smaller bowl, combine salad oil, strawberries, vanilla, and eggs. Mix well. Make a well in the center of the dry mixture and pour all liquid ingredients into the well. Mix by hand, just until all combined, don't over-mix. Pour into 2 buttered and floured loaf pans. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees or until toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
APRIL CHARITY: FOOD BANK OF NORTHWEST LOUISIANA
I learned that this food bank it is one of only 5 in our state. It has created a very effec6ve way of reaching hungry people in the parishes that it serves. Last year, over 6.9 million pounds of food was distributed.
Instead of bringing food dona6ons this 6me, I am encouraging people to bring monetary dona6ons instead. This is because, for every $1 that is donated, the food bank has the ability to purchase $12 worth of food through their various bulk vendors. So, by dona6ng money, more people can be fed!
Thank you and blessings,
DaLonna
As always, we thank you for dona6ng to the chari6es each month. It is so appreciated!
