AN ACT OF SPIRITUAL

COMMUNION

when one cannot receive

the Holy Eucharist:

My Jesus,

I believe that You

are present in the Most Holy

Sacrament.

I love You above all things,

and I desire to receive You into my soul.

Since I cannot at this moment

receive You sacramentally,

come at least spiritually into my heart.

I embrace You as if You were already

there and unite myself wholly to You.

Never permit me to be separated from

You. Amen.

Next week, we will take up the Peter’s Pence Collection, which provides Pope Francis with the funds to carry out his charitable works around the world. The proceeds benefit our brothers and sisters on the margins of society, including victims of war, oppression,

and disasters. Please be generous. For more information, visit www.usccb.org/peters-pence.

UPDATING THE SICK LIST: I deeply appreciate how you all take very seriously the charitable act of praying for one another - especially for those requesting prayer during times of illness. I wish to continue to encourage that beautiful Spiritual Work of Mercy. Our bulletin list contains names of those who (on their own behalf or by a family member) ask to be prayed for. It has been my practice to re-move a name only if we are directed to so as to avoid any offence being taken. However, for clarity's sake - I'm going to change that policy just a bit. Two times a year (January and July) we will start the list over (keeping only those names on the list who have re-cently asked to be placed on the list.) If you wish to continue to be on the list - then simply alert the office to that fact and you will be added back to the list. This will begin with the July 5th bulletin. Fr. Bob

EXPOSITION/ADORATION WILL RETURN TO RLF in a limited way and following Covid19 Protocols which began Friday, July 1st. We will resume holding Exposition/Adoration on the days we previously

held it in RLF: i.e., Mondays, Tuesday and Fri-days. However, we will have fewer hours on those days. We will have exposition/adoration from 4pm - 8pm in the main Church (not the adoration Chapel. Those volunteers who have agreed to pray during certain hours will be directed to additional sani-tizing protocols. For the public who wish to come and adore the Lord in the Holy Eucharist - please use the west doors of the Gathering Space and not the back sacristy door. Thank you to those who have committed to certain hours which allow us to begin again this important devotion in the life of our Parish. Fr. Bob

Congratulations to Elizabeth Determan, daughter of Jess and

Heidi, who received her First Communion at St. Joseph,

Brooks. May the love of Jesus shine in her heart now and forever.

Pope’s Intention for July Our Families

We pray that today’s families may be accompanied with love, respect and guidance.

July 5, 2020 - 14th Sunday in Ordinary Time “For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.” (Matthew 11:30) When we think of being good stewards, we may think that God is asking too much of us when He calls us to generously share our time, talent, and treasure. How-ever, we must remember that we are not “owners” of anything, we are merely “stewards” of the gifts God has given us. All He is asking is that we give back a small portion, in gratitude, of what He has already given to us.

How is the Blessed Sacrament reverenced? How is the reverence different when the Blessed Sacrament is exposed? What distinguishes the reverence given to the ex-posed Sacrament from adoration before the tab-ernacle is the communal nature of reverence to the exposed Sacrament. In Eucharistic exposition, The Blessed Sacrament is reverenced by the common prayer of the people in silence, song, and medita-tions, by incensation, and by other liturgical acts, including genuflection. “A single genuflection is made in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament, whether reserved in the tabernacle or exposed for public adoration.” Bishops’ Committee on the Liturgy United States Conference of Catholic Bishops
