Luzzatti worked as a painter, theatre set designer, ceramist, draughtsman, building stage sets and designing costumes for some of the most important national and international theatre companies.

Luzzatti designed over 400 sets for plays, operas and dance shows, working for the most important directors and the leading theatres both in Italy and abroad. He has also illustrated numerous children's books. He designed decorative panels, embossments and wall hangings for the ships Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Ausonia and Marco Polo.

• 1975 with Tonino Conte and Aldo Trionfo, he founded a theatre called Teatro della Tosse in Genoa which is still running today.

1961 started work as an animator in Soyuzmultfilmmet his future wife and creative partner, Francesca Yarbusova, with whom he collaborated on many of his films.

Through this project I discovered that animation is plastic time. This influenced all my subsequent work and I learned another lesson from this film: never make a concession if it goes against your conscience'.

widely regarded as Norstein's masterpiece and is the result of his third collaboration with Yarbusova and Zhokovsky, who photographed houses and old cars in the Moscow neighbourhood where Norstein had grown up.
