POTENTIAL ISSSUES PRESENTATION
What Is The Issue The issue is that animal testing is inhumane and cruel towards animals.
Although, animal testing is necessary to keep man-kind safe from diseases or the poisoning of untested medicine.
Animals are being tested on every day until an alternative is found for testing.
The issue is very complex being that it is riddled with ethical, social, and political problems.
How Deep Does Animal Testing Go? The issue is very complex being that it is riddled with ethical, social, and political
problems.
There are millions of people that protest animal testing every day which causes issues in government.
Ethically, animal testing is wrong, but necessary for biomedical research in order to keep humans healthy.
The issue is so complex because both sides of the argument are factual making the plan of attack on the issue very difficult.
Potential Questions? What is humanities role in protecting animals?
Does it cost too much money to search for an alternative?
If animals are momentarily the only option, is it ethical to use them?
Are animals being sedated before tests are being taken?
Would the world suffer if animal testing were to stop?
Research Available
People For Ethical Treatment Of Animals (Peta.org) briefly discusses the inhumane aspect of animal testing.
An article in New Internationalist Magazine called, “Is animal testing necessary to advance medical research?” was published to show people the medical advances made through animal testing and why it may be necessary.
Animal testing is regulated by the Animal Welfare Act of 1966 (AWA), and the Animal Welfare Regulations which is enforced by the Animal Care division of the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
Potential Problems Or Challeneges?
The animal testing industry has been functioning for many years.
Every cosmetic or medical product used by humans today has come from animal testing.
Animal testing is extremely insensitive and unethical.
The developers of these products aren’t complaining, only the user’s which creates a power struggle between the people and business.
Worth Exploring?
Animal testing is a path that each and every one of us cross day to day by simply using skin care products.
I have a lot of interesting in determining whether or not animal testing is necessary or just easy.
I personally am an animal lover which is why I would like to learn more about the issue and hopefully come to a conclusion that it is not necessary.
