From the Principal What an amazing week!!

Thank you so much to the many, many parents and friends who joined us for our Education Week celebrations. Staff and students were thrilled to see such a large number of parents, friends and family members taking an interest in classroom activities and clearly enjoying the wonderful student performances at our concert. Some of you gave up additional time to attend Art on the Hill on Wednesday or our shopping centre performances on Tuesday. I’d just like to take the opportunity to express our appreciation for your

Ms Susan Sundstrom will be teaching 2G for this period of time.

The weather was kind to us and we were finally able to hold our annual Athletics Carnival. The students had a great time competing in their track and field events. The Super-fit early risers arrived first at the field to compete in the 800m race. Students from Year 2 to Year 6 then all tried out their athletic skills with High Jump, Long Jump and Shot Put. Everyone’s speed and stamina was then put to the test on the track with the students running in the 100m and 200m races. The younger Kindergarten to Year 2 students had an action packed day with egg and spoon races, rocket ship javlin and sack races. They all loved the scream race but the majority of them said their favourite activity was the long jump. They were very excited doing the same event as the senior students and playing in the sand. The teachers were all extremely disap-pointed that we ran out of time and they didn’t get to a chance to show off their speed in a teachers’ race ! The students were all really well behaved and had an enjoyable start to Education Week. We are sure they all slept well that night. Mrs Linda Dollin and Mrs Sandra Russell Athletics Carnival Co-ordinators

On Tuesday 28th July, selected lucky performers went to Mt Druitt’s Westfield Shopping Centre. We performed our dances and drumming in front of a large audience of shoppers. The students had big smiles on their faces and were very excited for this opportunity. They all did a great job representing our school and showing off our talents. Well done to all involved!

Last Wednesday night our annual Learning Neighbourhood “Art On The Hill” exhibition was held at Rooty Hill High School. There were artworks displayed from Rooty Hill Public School, Rooty Hill High School, Minchinbury Public School and Eastern Creek Public School. It was wonderful to see so many of our budding artists and their proud families and friends who came along to support their children. There were some amazing artworks on display! A big thank you to all the Rooty Hill staff who attended. We would like to congratulate our winners from the evening: Charlea McVernon- Overall School Winner Serena Sumaya- Early Stage One Quality Award Winner Melvan Coombes- Stage One Quality Award Winner Sabeeka Shakeel- Stage Three People Choice Award Winner

Most of the artworks will now be displayed in the library and Mrs Malecki’s office!

The Premier’s Reading Challenge is closing in 17 days. Please finalise your reading logs by either doing it yourself by logging in with your school log in on the website https://online.det.nsw.edu.au or give a list to Ms Chapple who will log them on for you. At the moment we have 112 children finished but we are hoping to have a lot more. Out of those children congratulations to 5K as everyone in that class has finished. Let’s see if any other class can do the same. Ms Chapple

Thank you to all of the family members and friends who took the time to join us for

Open Day. It is a great opportunity for parents to see what happens in our class-

rooms and the students really enjoy having someone special visit them in their

classroom. As always our students showed off their skills through both the visual

arts display in the library and performance items in the concert. We hope everyone

enjoyed their visit!
