Led by Dr Max (medical practitioner) and Rita (an experienced yoga teacher), each session works to improve your sense of wellbeing as you use movement, mindfulness and breathing to develop skills to help manage a range of everyday concerns. These sessions are for participants of the Plus Social program. Plus Social provides supported social participation groups for people whose mental health significantly impacts their daily living. It aims to build wellbeing, inclusion and resilience. Plus Social is funded by the Gold Coast Primary Health Network and provided by Primary & Community Care Services Limited (PCCS). Ancient wisdom meets modern knowledge

What to expect • Sessions are held at the PCCS Hub in Mermaid Beach. The groups are led by a yoga professional and

an experienced medical practitioner.

• You will learn how many of the ancient practices, including yoga and meditation, combined with gentle exercise and breathing can help you manage anxiety, anger and stress, changing your outlook and breaking negative thought patterns.

• You will have an opportunity to develop techniques to regulate your emotions through breathing and relaxation, in the company of a small group.

• Participation is not compulsory – you can observe the session without the pressure to join in. If you do join in, you can do so sitting, standing or lying down, whichever is most comfortable. The teacher will guide you in a safe and professional manner.

• Each week explores a different topic. Topics include:

About your facilitators Dr Max Mansoor, Medical Practitioner Dr Max is a local medical practitioner with a holistic approach to wellness and has special interests in combining the benefits of ancient wisdom with modern science.
