    Landscapes

This is one of my favoritelandscapes, because it is in

Arizona. This photo shows notonly the beutiful mountains,

but also some cacti and somebeautiful plants by a stream.

This beautiful lanscapewas found at IndianaDunes. It gives a greatview of the water andalso the people on thebeach.

    Gods Gift of Nature

This landscape is foundon a farm in mideastIllinois. This landscape

shows a sky line, aforest, power lines, corn,

    and even a path.

In this landscape you can see aconstruction site. You also cansee a farm in the background.I like this photo because youcan see many different layers ofthings.

This landscape was taken at mysiblings apartment complexes.

You can see apartments in thebackground and also the largepond that covers most of the

    land.

In this landscape there isa river in the background. Ithink the landscape is verypretty because of all theshrubby that is hiding theriver.

In this Landscape there is a greatview of the mountains. There also

is some kind of road. I like thisphoto because of the random

mailbox. The mailbox really breaksup the tone of the photo.

In week one, I started off bygetting a photo of a land-scape that had many different

layers in it. I decided to takea picture of the skyline fromthe South Side of Chicago. Ialso go the Buckingham foun-tain in the picture.

With this picture I had tooutline all the shapes, startingwith the shape farthest back, and going all the way to thefront. I did this process AdobeIllustrator.

On Adobe Illustrator, we usedthe pen tool to out line theshapes. I also used the arrow

tools to help made round edgesand add points if we needed to.I used a magnifying glass toolto make sure I could really out-line all the shapes. I also usedthe eyedropper tool to take thecolor of the original object, andmake it so the shape was thesame color.

I did this whole process anddecided that the people in the

picture were more detailthan I wanted, so I decidedto leave them out.

I decided to takea picture of theskyline from theSouth Side ofChicago..

The next step was to take myphoto full of shapes and play

with gradients. To play withgradients you have to openthe gradient window in AdobeIllistrator. While playing withgradients you can changemany different things are notin the original photo. Youare able to change the hue, value, and saturation of thecolors in the photo.

In my photo I decided to usegradient on the main focus pointsof my photo. I change the gradienton the water, the sky, the grass, and the walkway. For each objectI stayed with the original color, and just made the object seem toget lighter in color or darker incolor.

In my photo I decidedto use gradient on themain focus points ofmy photo.

Night Time in Th e City

This time I took the same original pho-to that I started with, and I played withgradients again. The only difference is,that I decided to change the gradientsso that the picture changed from a dayphoto to a night photo. I changed thephoto so it now has a sun set. I also

The craft that I used for thisphoto was the different gradi-ents of dark colors that I foundon adobe illustrator. It also hasmany different shapes to representthings in the town . The concept of this photo

was to change the photo and

make it look like it was takenat sunset and not the middle ofthe day.

The composition ofthis photo is that as the sunis going down, the color ofthe buildings, trees, grass, walkway, and the water allstart to get darker.

    Craft, Concept, Composition

changed the buildings to look like thesun was going off of them. I turn thewater darker, and I also made thegrass fade into dark. Changing thegradient on Adobe Illustrator did allthis.

Turning th e City Pu rple

    A Monochromatic Picture

    12

In this version of thecity, I decided to use amonochromatictechnique. I decidedto turn the whole citypurple. To do this I hadto make every shape andobject a different shadeof purple. I used the verylightest colors of purpleI could find, and alsoshades of purple thatwere very close to beingblack. I decided to usepurple because it is myfavorite color. I wantedthe concept of this phototo be the city on a daywith no other color butpurple.

Where Does Your Ey e Go?

In this photo I decided to changethe focal point. In the originalphoto, I believe that the focalpoint was the sky and the waterbecause they are the two light-est colors. In my new photo Idecided to change the focal pointto the pathway. To do this, I hadto change the water and the skycolor to make them darker. I alsomade the grass and the treesslightly darker. Then I changedthe color of the pathway so thatit would be bright and stand out.

I like this photo because of theconcept. I think the concept isthat some things that we may notthink are the most important, canbe. The composition of this photowas very fun because I usedmany different people to makesure their eyes went straight tothe pathway first.

I used many different people to make suretheir eyes went straight to the pathway frst.

    Outlining The City

    16

In these photos I decided totake advantage of the bordertool on Adobe Illustrator, andmake the photo into somethingcompletely different then whatit was using borders. In eachphoto I decided to make some-thing different. In the photo

above, I decided to outline ev-erything in blue red or purple.I also varied the designs andwidths of all of the borders. On the next page in the topphoto, I decided to have animaland animal prints crawling onthe objects. I decided to use

    ..make thephoto intosomethingcompletely

    differentthen what itwas usingborders.

ants for one border, I usedbird tracks and also I usedsome marks that looked likegrass to outline the grass. Onthe next page on the bot-tom photo, I started off withthe border and I thought itmade the buildings look like

they were bleeding, but when Iplayed around with the colorsI saw that it made the build-ings look like they had hair.So I decided to have thebuildings have blonde, red,and brown hair.

Teapot CreationThe Craftof these photoswas done by a pen tool andpen pad. I drew the pictureson Adobe Illustrator. In somephotos I used differentbackground colors and insome photos I only usedlines in certain directionsand sizes. I used black linesto represent the dark colorand I used white lines torepresent the light color. Inormally used gray as thebackround so it could beneutral. I also used a lampto help with controlledlighting.

    The Composition of

these photos was to showthe teapots and where theyhad dark and light colors. The composition is to seethe lines make the teapotsand not for the lines to justgive an outline of the tea-pots.

The Concept of thisphoto is that everythinghas light and dark colors.Even though some of theteapots were all one color, the way the light hit theteapots, caused the teapotto have darks and lightsof the color that it was.

..show theteapots andwhere theyhad dark andlight color.

    28

During this project, I pickedan object that saidsomething bout me. I pickeda pumpkin because it is falland I love to carvepumpkins in the fall time.Since I did not want tocarry a big pumpkin Ipicked one of the verysmall ones. With this pumpkin I alsodrew it showing the darksand the lights. In thepicture below I drew my

    Vertical and Horizontal Lines

pumpkin three differtimes. All three timedrew it using the ideof lights and darks, I used different lineseach. For one of thepumpkins I used onlhorizontal lines. Foranother pumpkin I oused vertical lines. Fthird pumpkin I usedhorizontal and verticlines.

    Pumpkins in their Natural Color

    30

In the photo above Iused the same concept Ihad been using with thelights and darks, but I

also added orange in asthe dominant color of thepumpkin. In the photo tote left I decided to usethe natural colors of thepumpkin but still show

the lights and the darks. Iused all shades of

oranges. On my pumpkin Iused four different shades

and on my computermouse and the shadow I

used some more differentshades. The concept ofthis photo was to show

the darks and light of thepumpkin, without losingthe natural colors of the

    pumpkin.

A Love Pen Bag A Pen Tool and Stand

In these photos I still used thepen tool and I also showed thedark and the light colors. Inthese photos though, I decidedto add a little bit of blue intoeach photo. In the photo ofthe pen bag I used the blue tooutline the bag. In the photo ofthe pen tool, I used the blue asa highlight to the penholder. I

also used this technique on thenext page. In photo of the blackhigh-heeled show I used theblue to outline the inside of theshoe. In the photo of the waterbottle I used the blue to showthe label on the bottle. Theconcept of this was to make afocal point in each photo.

I love this teapotbecause I think the

lines that the lightproduced on theteapot, made theteapot look veryinteresting. I also lovethe balck and whitepumpkin because I thinkdrawing only the lightsand darks gave thepumpkin a new design.I love the orangepumpkin because itbrings in some of thepumpkins natural color.
