OWL PELLETS

The first activity was looking inside the owl pellets . We discovered they ate small animals like mice, shrews and baby birds. They regurgitated the bones and hair and the pellets will dry in a period of a week.We used a magnifying glass and tweezers. And we were filmed and questioned by filmers with huge cameras and a boom microphone!!

Binoculars and Bird Hide

We all went to the bird hide. We used £400 pound binoculars they were very clear! We saw mute swans, coots and common gulls. The reservoir was huge, you could see the power plant in the distance and also nests and mini islands on the resevoir we all loved it!!!

Y5’S RSPB TRIP

Pond Dipping

We all went pond dipping. We found lots of mini bugs like pond skaters and mini leaches and then a big juicy blood sucking leach!!!! We also had mini ponds {as shown in picture} We had a special water magnifying glasses we could see the shiny top of these 6 legged swimmers. We also used a data logger to find out the temperature of the water and the air. The water was colder by 3c.
