Introduction

The research on what you would do in your driverless car was originally comissioned to gain insight into how people really see the world of driverless cars, and get an understanding of what people would do, and how comfortable they would be with using their driverless cars as part of their lifestyle.

We ran a survey of 1500 people using Google consumer surveys, and asked a series of questions.

In this research pack, you will find the questions and answers, along with the overall results as well as gender and age group breakdowns.

The Survey Questions

We asked 1591 people in the UK the following 6 questions:

- Question 1: If driverless cars were to become accessible and affordable in the next 5 years, how likely would you purchase one? [Scale of 1-5 where 5 is extremely likely]

- Question 2: If you had a driverless car, what activities would you likely perform on your commute?

o Play Pokémon Go o Catch up on sleep o Finish getting ready (make-up, brush your teeth, etc.) o Watch movies/Read o Meditation/Yoga o None of the above

- Question 3: Choose the activities you would likely do when travelling at the weekend:

o Play video games o ‘Netflix and chill’ o Have a few drinks on your way to meet your friends o Bing-watch a series o Eyes on the road; hold on for dear life! o None of the above

- Question 4: In a driverless world, which of the following errands would you be comfortable for your car to do without you?

o Send an important package o Send your children to school o Send cash to somebody o Pick up a drive through take away o Take your gran to church o Send your car to the car wash o None of the above
