Phonics: Warm Up

• Practise your Phase 2 and Phase 3 sounds! You can use...:

• Your flash cards

• The ‘Flash Cards’ game on Phonics Play

• The photos onTapestry

• 'Flash Cards Time Trial' Game on Phonics Bloom which is also free!

It is important to keep practising them daily, so keep up the good work! Don't forget to practise your tricky words too!

Phonics: Introducing Phase 4!

This week we will be starting Phase 4 in Phonics! In this Phase we will

not learn any new sounds. Instead we will be reading and writing some

trickier words using the sounds we know.

These words will have 2 or more consonants together, either at the start of

the word, such as star and spot, or at the end of a word, such as milk and

nest.

They are a little bit harder to sound out, so that is why we spend a few weeks

just on these types of words!

Phonics: Main ActivityThis week we will be focusing on words where the trickier part is at the endof the word! Can you read these words together? Reveal the pictures on the next page to see if you were right!

Maths: 2D Shape! This week we will be learning all about 2D shapes! We will be focusing on the properties of 2D shapes and sorting them in different ways.

Maths: Starter Activity Can you guess

which shapes are hiding

behind the wall?

Maths: Which shapes did you spot? Did any surprise you?

Maths: Main ActivityYour challenge today is one of our favourite games to play in Maths!

Draw a selection of shapes together, and then cut them out. Ask your child to secretly choose one, and then stick it to your back with tape! Ask questions to find out which shape it is e.g.

How many corners does it have?

How many sides does it have?

Are all the sides the same size?

Take turns and repeat with different shapes!

The Number Fairy!

When Miss Ellis turned her computer on yesterday, she was very surprised to

find the Number Fairy had returned and left another special message for

Reception! The Number Fairy left some fun games

and challenges all about the number 15!

Can you try to work through these at

home?

I have put the link on the 'Home

Learning' page under 'Year R', please click

on the link and then click on this icon at

the bottom (on the right) to view the

Funky Fingers Challenge! We want to make sure you're keeping your hands super strong! At school we often

do 'Funky Fingers' activities which keep the muscles in our hands super strong!

Today's 'funky fingers' challenge!

Your challenge today...

How many cheerios (or similar eg. beads) can you thread on a piece of string in

one minute?

Can you race against a member in your family? Can you try again and see if

you can beat your score?

Healthy Lifestyle

Supertato!

We have loved seeing all your fantastic 'Supertato' work you have been doing at home. It really is one of our favourite stories!

We have been thinking about how the vegetables would have been feeling when the Evil Pea was up to mischief!

Can you discuss with a grown up...?

How did the vegetables feel

when they found out the Evil

Pea was on the loose?

What was carrot thinking

when the Evil Pea stuck him

to the conveyor belt in the

supermarket?

How do you think the

vegetables felt when the

Evil Pea was trapped in the

jelly?

What do you think the

vegetables would say to the

Evil Pea?

How do you think

Supertato felt when he fell

in the freezer?

What do you think the Evil Pea

thought when he got caught in

the jelly?

Challenge-Writing a speech bubble

What do you think carrot would have said when the Evil Pea stuck him to the conveyor belt? Write your idea in the speech bubble.

Story Time with Miss Curd: 'Triangle' by Mac Barnett and Jon Klassen

This story links really well to this week's shape topic in Maths!

See which shapes you can spot throughout the story.

How do you think Triangle felt at the end? Do you think that was really Square’s sneaky plan?

Have a wonderful day!
