other companies, resulting in lots of simultaneous works,
which makes it all the more challenging to complete the task.

Darren Fletcher Anak Baing is a Sarawakian from Sri Aman, currently
working as a QC Engineer for Rahabco. Born March 18, 1987, he is the
youngest among 5 siblings. His hobbies include watching football, car
set-ups, and hanging out with friends during weekends. His starts work
at 6 in the morning, and goes back home at 6 in the evening.thHe shared that for him, Train 9 is the 4 biggest project he has ever
been involved with. He also believes that Train 9 Project is top class in
terms of HSE implementation.
One of his major challenges is the walking distance and time it takes to
walk from the Rahabco Office to Site. Nevertheless he still enjoys
working at Train 9. He also shared that all of his workers are very
cooperative, resulting in good teamwork. He also mentioned that his
strategy is to treat his workers as friends in order to achieve a common
goal, which is to finish the project safely and with excellent quality.
His commitment to this Project is to finish his work on time and with
excellent quality.
He hopes everyone will work safely, so we can all go home happily, and

Rodante is one of our Work Leaders working for Muhibbah (MSI). He has been with us for 17 months and running. He is 33 years old, and comes from Zamboanga City, Philippines. He describes himself as an active person, with singing, cooking and playing basketball as his hobbies. He shared with us that he has been staying in Malaysia for the past 12 years. His past project was at Samalaju, Bintulu. It is interesting to note that due to that length of stay, he has the ability to converse in Bahasa pretty well! He shared that he loves Malaysia, as it is a very peaceful place to stay, with locals being very friendly. The environment in Malaysia is not that bad either.When asked about Train 9, his views are that it is “A fast and safe Project for sure”. He also feels like the progress is very fast, although he is concerned thsat it may sometimes affect the quality of work. From a safety standpoint, he mentioned that our Owner and main contractor have really good safety procedures. He can explain them also very clearly to his mates and other workers, as well as implement these every time. Because of this he clearly understands that a safety commitment at work is really important, not just for him but for everyone.In parting, he shared that he also feels so thankful to Train 9 because it it positively affects his career experience wise, plus he gets to understand more about safety,

He is 26 years old and single. Originally from East Java, Indonesia. He is
the eldest of 3 siblings. Already working in Malaysia for almost 10 years
where he spend 7 years working in Sabah before he join Train 9 as thJanitor. He started working in workers camp on 15 August 2014 after
introduced by his agents. For him, even though not directly involved in
Train 9 construction, working at camp also could be challenging as at
site because there is many task to be finish every day. His work not only
focus on janitorial but also include housekeeping and laundry. But by
the end of the day, after all work is done the only thing he wanted to do
is playing guitar and hang out with his colleague and friends. Ikhsan's

Mr Toto Riyanto has been working for WEN-I for almost 1 year but
working in Train 9 for 4 month as Instrument Technician. This is his
second project with WEN-I. He is 33 years old form West Java. Already
married with 2 children. He shared that he is very happy to be part of
this Train 9 project. “Less break-time, more rest time” working system
that practiced by his company enable him and his colleague to focus on
their work and get the job done on time as well as having a long rest at
the end of the day after returning from work. For him, the
improvement that needed in Train 9 is to increase more firewatcher at
site especially at their working area because of the size of their working
area is large. In term of safety, personally it is not only wearing PPE but
safety remind him to work safely and taking care of each other while
working. To him safety is started from our self. His message for all “stay
focus, stop thinking negative, follow the rules and never ESCAPE”.

married and have 2 kids. He is 50 years old this year.
To him, PETRONAS LNG Train 9 Project is going smoothly. What he can
see are, every sub-contractor is working very hard to complete their
task accordingly schedule. Besides that, PETRONAS LNG Train 9 Project
is a very good project which is make good relationship between main-
contractor and sub-contractor as well. Workers also very cooperative,
caring to each other's and easy to intervene. Whenever he intervene
them, they always say “THANK YOU” with respectively. To improve this
PETRONAS LNG Train 9 Project is COMMUNICATION. Communication is
very important to all members. Talk in proper manner, intervene with
full respect. PETRONAS LNG Train 9 Project should be more safety,
progress and good quality. Everybody should give their good
commitment and cooperation to complete this project successfully.

jogging.
Before this, Mrs Ivonne work in a place that have different background
but still same nationality. But in Train 9,it totally different because she
work with different background and nationality. It makes her job more
interesting and challenging.
According to her, it was overload in doing task between department
and it was no good practice because it can make the worker not focus
to what they doing. Besides that, the biggest challenging is
communication and culture. But it did not break her spirit rather
challenge is to serve as a driving force to boost confidence and her
performance.
She not directly involved in technical site. But she still giving fully
commitment especially when it about safety. She added, worker will
look for her when it about salary increase. She hope this project will
complete successfully.

Amy is from Bintulu Malaysia. She work in PEC as Site Administration
for 3 years. She was born with 12 siblings and her the eldest one. She
was grew up in Tatau. Currently she have a year experience in Train 9
and she likes this Train 9 site environment very much. Beside that she
love to work at Train 9 because all sub-contractors close to each other
and she has many friends that can shared their thoughts, experience
with others both locals and foreigners. In train9 as a site admin she
analyzed there is more manpower in LNG both foreigners and locals
and it makes “A Group of warriors in LNG with all nationality members”.
Then administration task is like planning, coordinating, controlling,
monitoring, and motivating the worker. Have good communication
with each department and regarding safety wise good housekeeping
and keep environmental clean and safely, also good arrangements in
office to avoid office hazards is her safety commitment. In Quality wise
monitoring attendance to improve workers and to avoid absenteeism
and leave in disciplinary manner to issue warning letter to improve
quality of manpower in site. On behalf of the company she wish client

Rebecca Empayang is a security guard at gate 45, Train 9. She is 23
years old and already married. She was born at Kuala Tatau Bintulu. Her
hobby is watching television and playing video game. She also like to do
housekeeping.
Rebecca work at first shift, from 6.0am to 6.00pm. Every day before
starting her shift, she will have a morning briefing. Then, she will do a
body check for women worker before go to site. The peak hour is when
worker coming to work around 7.00am, rest time and back time.
Besides that she also writting hourly report and insident report..
She think that, it was a rules and guidelines already mention from every
side. If all the worker follow it, the problem during working time can
reduce.
As a married women, it is a big challenging to her. She need to prepared
her husband needs to work and at the same time she also need to
come to work in time. So, she must Smart in time managenent.
Working as a security guard need a high commitment. Rebeca

Mr. Dennis John is one of our QA/QC Engineers working for PALING construction SDN BHD. He is 25, born the 18th of February 1990 and is from Bintulu, Malaysia. His hobbies include fishing and hunting. Some people may regard fishing as a boring hobby but for him, he finds it very relaxing. As for hunting, he finds it interesting because it requires a certain skill, and a lot of preparation. For him, these two hobbies help a lot in meeting new friends, breaking down barriers, and developing friendships.When it comes to work, his commitment towards progress and quality are to ensure the activities are in the right track and to ensure all the activities meet the standard requirements as per specification. When asked IIF, he shared that it is a program were each one of the management, staff and workers are encouraged to speak out when there is someone working unsafe, or if there is an unsafe condition. He also mentioned that activities such smile walkthrough, green days, etc. are for Train 9 personnel to be reminded about the importance of working safely.Dennis admits and he cannot deny that there are pressures and challenges working for the Train 9 Project, but he believe in saying “Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is a progress, and working together is a success”. Low Wai Loong, one of our Work Leaders working for PEC for a thyear now. He comes from Malaka, West Malaysia, and the 6 of 7
siblings. Here in Train 9, he shared that he discovered many good things with IIF one of them, because it shows how Train 9 cares for workers like him. Also, their office is very near to Bintulu city and it's easy to go there. Management is good and workers are friendly. Low mentioned that as a work leader, he has to train the workers on working safely on Site, motivate his workers to hit the target, and to execute construction technical matters. He also has to closely monitor the workers and understand their perception, check and certify that his workers are fit to work, physically and mentally, check and confirm that his workers are using complete PPE at all times at work. From a quality standpoint, he needs to monitor the fitters that their execution of fit up is correct, and that all welders are follow the correct welding procedure to increase the quality of work. For IIF, he is happy that the IIF trainers and champions coach employees to care for each other, as it helps to reduce stress produced by working for the construction industry.
Aung Zaw Htwe is one of our General Fitters working for PEC. He
hails from Myaung, Myanmar, married and has a one year old daughter,
and has been with PEC for 9 months now. His hobbies include playing
soccer and watching movies.
He shared that here in Train 9 he got to develop new friendships with
co-workers from different nationalities. Whenever he is at work he
uses complete Personal Protective Equipment like coveralls, safety
shoes, safety gloves, ear plugs, dust mask, goggles, helmet and he
requests that all workers and his colleagues from PEC must wear full
PPE during working hours. He feels that IIF is beneficial to Train 9, as it
motivates the employee to do work correctly and safely.
In ending, he stated that we should all work safely and go home happily.
Meet Alih, one of our lorry drivers working for Naim. His
responsibility is to supply Diesel to JGC equipments inside Train 9.
According to him, he drives the lorry truck twice a day with diesel
volume of about 2500 to 3000 liters per day.
He feels happy and proud because his company was given a chance to
work in the Oil and Gas industry for the first time. He feels blessed and
grateful because of the job that he has today, he feels that the company
really cares for him, thus he wants to commit to doing well in his job.
Alih is also impressed with the way Train 9 feels safe, and the people
working here are great too.
But of course, there are always rooms for improvement in every
system. He hopes that flagmen will always be able to monitor traffic
conditions, because dangerous situations may occur during traffic
jams. He also hopes for better road conditions to help in keeping
drivers like him safe all the time. In ending, he congratulates Train 9 for

month. Join a Train 9 Project is a pride to him as is this project will be the
fastest world record LNG project build. In this project he can expend his
networking because there are many people from other country
working in this project. He can learnt many new thing and upgrade his
personal skill that will be useful for future. The most challenging to him
is physical and mental strength. As a general technician he do many
thing such like repairing leak of toilet, repairing tenant locker and to
make sure everything is in good condition. His work not only cover in
workers camp, but also include JGC site office and laydown. He will give
fully commitment to safety such follow all SOP comply in his duties,
give a good quality of job and will practise what he has learn even
though this project complete.

Rataul Gurbhej Singh,38 years old,from Punjab India, is working
with Shapadu-Penta Consortium (SPC) and been attached to Train 9
Project since November 2014 as Rigger Foreman. He has experience
working in rigging job for more than 15 years, in which he has worked in
many countries such as Bahrain, Dubai and Saudi Arabia. What he likes
the most about our Train 9 Project is the HSE Rules which are being
implemented diligently and the good housekeeping practised. He
acknowledges that JGC and sub-contractors manage this fast track
project very well, in safely achieving daily targets. The climate in Bintulu
is also very good to work. Apart from that, Rataul enjoys the project
being multinational where he constantly makes many friends from
other countries. It is notable to mention that Rataul and team are the
Champion of Train 9 STARRT Competition. To this, he feels extremely
happy, proud, and credits his teammates for working safely and
collectively on daily basis. Rataul believes that STARRT is one of the
highlights of this project where a good STARRT is essential for everyday
tasks to be achieved productively and safely, by improving the
understanding of every team members. As his commitment to safety,
he always intervene any unsafe acts observed among his working
partners, especially on PPE and work procedures. Rataul's message to
everyone is that we have to take care of each other to stay safe and
work productively, as well as always remember the family who are
waiting for us back home.

Meet Bandin, one of our carpenters working for Dialog. He shared
with us that this is not his first time in the Oil and Gas Industry, as he had
also been with LNG Two and Three previously. We saw pride in his eyes
when he mentioned that he was able two complete his stints there
safely. Bandin lives by the principle “Wherever you work, safety is
always first” which for him means keeping safe is equal to loving
yourself and your friends”.
He is happy so far with his stay in Train 9. He feels safe, and cared for
here. Train 9, according to him, provides a good atmosphere for
workers to work safely and comfortably. He likes the access ways and
barricades which being arranged nicely and properly in Train 9 Project.
In terms of challenges, sometimes he feels stressed because of the
pressure from his boss, but it's nothing that he can't handle. In ending,
pushing for progress is very important, but nonetheless safety is still
the most important value in doing so.

Meet Orenny Jua, one of our security staff under Kemas Kawalan. Born 10 October 1991, she is a Malaysian originally from Kapit, Sarawak. She has three brothers, and and then her, the only rose among the thorns. When she was 11, her family moved to Tawau, Sabah until she was 24 years old, after which she came back to Bintulu, then joined Train 9 as a security staff. Currently, her parents are self-employed, tending to their oil palm plantation. Her likes are travelling to other countries and getting to know diferent cultures. It is interesting to note that Orenny used to play hockey during her younger years, and even was part of a team that represented her school during
tournaments!Her daily work routine usually starts at 5:30 a.m., where she begins work by preparing reports and watching workers enter the Site. She ends her shift at 6:00 p.m., then once home, spends her time cooking and doing house chores, before going to bed. For her, the Train 9 Project is very interesting, and until now she cannot believe that she was given a chance to work for this Project, which is the biggest she has been with so far. She is amazed seeing everyone working so hard to finish the Project on time. She sees to it that she practices patience and diligence at work, especially in terms of dealing with other Project personnel. She wants to contribute well by watching over the workers and ensuring their security at work. In ending, she hopes that everyone can go home safely by the end of this Project, and that we will be able to meet the completion date.

Enddylee Anak Adak, a QA/QC inspector for Synerlitz, has been with
the Train 9 Project since July 2014. He is 24, Malaysian, and a Bintulu
local. Enddylee also shared with us that he recently got married just
this past June 2015!
He regards Train 9 as a very fast tracked project, compared to his
previous experiences. He also feels that the quality compliance in Train
9 is very good, despite the compressed schedule. Enddylee also
pointed out that the HSE practice in our project is genuine, compared
to just for compliance, as high importance is given to HSE all the time.
He also happily shared that working environment here is harmonious,
even though there are workers from different countries.
Enddylee believes that the IIF culture is very essential to our Project,
proof of which communication, he feels, has improved between
everyone regardless of company. He strongly believes that Train 9 is
going well and safe with good productivity because of the IIF culture.

Frank Calvin, 21, Malaysian, is currently a Work Leader for Synerlitz,
and been with the Train 9 Project since November 2014. He is as of the
moment single, and is a Bintulu local, and all his working career has
been spent right here in Bintulu.
Frank acknowledges that Train 9 has a very good HSE culture. He feels

Jenggot Anak Enturan, a 44 year old Malaysian from Kapit,
married with 3 children, is a Crane Operator working for Shapadu-
Penta Consortium, and has been with Train 9 for more than a year now. Jenggot currently operates a 300-ton crane, which, for our reader's
reference, is currently the biggest crane inside Train 9 with luffer
arrangements. He has 29 years of experience in crane operations,
dating all the way back to 1986. He shared that regardless of the crane
size and capacity, operating these come with the same responsibilities
in terms of ensuring safe lifting and operation. He emphasized the
importance of the crane operator being competent and familiar with a
particular crane type before engaging in any lifting works. He further
added that clear communication with the rigging team is essential, and
one must be always aware of the surroundings. He also shared that
working at Train 9 for him is very good because high standards of HSE
are practiced. He also happily pointed out that the working
environment here is harmonious, especially now that there are quite a
number of multinational workers on board. Jenggot's parting message
to everyone is to please work safely, and ensure no incidents.

Mr Mohammad Azwan bin Abdullah is sky lift operator from
Nippon Express since October 2014. He is 41 years old and from Tatau
Bintulu, Sarawak. He have 4 sons and one daughter. He love to clean up
and decorating his house. Besides that, he also like go fishing.
His routine start as early 6.30am. He begin his day by attending toolbox
meeting. After receiving instruction from his superintendent about his
workplace he will start his task. If he didn't receive any order he will be
able at parking lot for heavy vehicle at Lot 85.
When asking about his opinion about Train 9, he said that everything
going smooth. The work schedule also good. But, he less recognize the
other worker especially from different subcontractor because his
workplace always change based on schedule.
Commenting on the challenges faced, Azwan told the narrow working
area mainly for heavy vehicle hard to move. When in standby mode, all
operator stay at Lot 85 but there was no waiting area. All it have is only
canvas canopy in poor condition. He hopes that will have somebody go
through in this problem. There also many mosquito in this area.
To Azwan, safety is the most important. It a must to come to toolbox
meeting every day. Besides that, a good workplace is like A230. This
area is clean and good housekeeping practice. He advised to speak up
when seeing unsafe behavior and unsafe condition.

Casrika Wartim, 26, a cladder working for Kaefer, and has been with ththe Train 9 Project since February 2015. Born 4 July 1989, Casrika is an
Indonesian from Indramayu, with his parents. He has been in this
industry for six years, and has previously been with a couple of projects
right here in Bintulu.
Right now, he is one of Train 9's Environmental Management Unit Crew.
His duties include daily housekeeping activities at Site and at the
Worker's Resting Sheds. He also works tirelessly to help ensure the
drains are kept clean and clear from clogs. He acknowledges that being
part of the E.M.U. has made him realize his responsibilities in taking
good care of the environment. He mentioned that our Train 9 Project
pays high importance to HSE matters, which makes him feel safe
working here. He has a habit of writing down the topics and points
discussed during TBM's in his small book everyday, especially about the
hazards. He mentioned that his Environmental Supervisor and co- EMU
team members are very concern about the safety and well being of
their fellow team members. The IIF culture in Train 9 Project has made
him more observant, and vocal in intervening unsafe acts. His message
to everyone is to work safely, not to throw rubbish anywhere, and that
we need to take good care of our environment.

Samsudin Bin Rasup Kalad, 31, an Indonesian from Indramayu, is
one of our Project Helpers working for Shapadu-Penta Consortium th(SPC), and has been with the Train 9 Project since April 2015. Born 6
July 1984, Samsudin has a wife and daughter, who are currently living
with his parents. He has seven years of work experience, including a
four year stint in Saudi Arabia. Right now, he is one of Train 9's Environmental Management Unit Crew.
His duties include daily housekeeping activities at Site and at our
Worker's Resting Sheds. He also works diligently to help ensure that
drains are kept clean and clear from clogs. He acknowledges that being
part of the E.M.U. has provided good learning opportunities, and
enhanced his awareness on the importance of taking care of our
environment. Samsudin mentioned that the Train 9 Project
implements a high standard of HSE, with good basic facilities being
provided, to which he is grateful for. He also happily pointed out that his
Environmental Supervisor and E.M.U. Team are very understanding
and takes good care of his fellow team members. He appreciates the IIF
culture in Train 9, which taught him to take good care of one another
and help keep everyone safe. Samsudin's parting message and humble
request to everyone is that we have to improve our awareness
regarding environment importance, and to please not litter, as a clean
environment also reflects a good heart.
