• An app is software that directly helps a user perform tasks.

• Programs are built to work on a single or a dedicated platform.

• Apps are developed to work on more than one platform.

• A program needs an installer that already has a package consisting of necessary files. (DLL files)

• An app is a single file that you download and install on your computer.

• A program with a user-interface is an application, but many programs are not applications.
