Background to Includem’s Experience

• 12 years of supporting vulnerable young people and their families in partnership with LAs

• Referrals from Social Work, often as last resort• Worked with over 3,000 young people across 18 LAs• Primarily aged 8 to 17 (66% aged 12-15 at referral)• Most subject to formal measures

What we know about these young people

• Mix of welfare and behaviour grounds for referral

• Most living with parent/s or other relative

• Most experience different placements, often multiple moves

• Level and complexity of need on a par with those who are accommodated

• Engrained resistance to meaningfully engage with services
